I have that gun, it rocks. Others have seen my swear by that phone.

It took off an axle nut that about 4' worth of cheater bar couldn't. The 1/2" Craftsman breaker I was using was twisting, so I stopped (don't want to fall on my ass and get pegged by shrapnel propelled by 700+lb-ft of force).

It also has the really cool NASCAR impact sound that others are missing. Make sure your compressor rocks though, it's thirsty.

That IR gun is $120 more and rated for less torque. My friend with an IR had to borrow my Earthquake once...

Plus, the Earthquake is crinkle coated, looks cool...

Similar to what I have (Mine is the IR2131 - discontinued): http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...tive+Air+Tools

Phenomenal tool.. Mine weighs 4.5 lb, 600 ft-lb and over 9000 rpm and QUIET. Plus it doesnt look like a kids toy painted all cherry red The Ti model is even nicer but quite a big price upgrade.

Seriously, IR is the shizz when it comes to air tools. I also recommend their 3/8" high speed ratchet. Mine is the IR111 with 65 ft-lb, 300 rpm, only ~90 dBA and reactionless design. It's a gorgeous unit too.

Bah, way too expensive for my tastes. We are, after all, Sentra owners...

Yeah, I have the IR Ti and love the damn thing. I also use an impact gun a number of times in my work day. It'll break a grade 10 if it's not comming out.

We found something that the earthquake couldn't conquer yesterday...

Went to take the rear control arms off of the racecar for the ES bushings and hit the bolt that goes through the spindle with the mighty Earthquake....

Didn't budge. Hmm, that's never happened before. Hit the nut on the other side and it comes right off. Hit the bolt again (no more nut on it, no tention right? Wrong) and it still doesn't budge.

Looking more carefully, I see that the bolt has RUSTED to the spindle. Great. We remove the entire assemly and take it out. I hit the end of the bolt with a hammer, no dice. Bust out the 2lb deadblow, no dice. 5lb sledge? Nope. It's stuck. Looks like we'll have to cut/drill it out. Lame....

At least that explains why the rear of that car always felt so wierd...

This is VERY VERY common. The bolts just get siezed in there and refuse to move. Thats why many of us in the Northeast don't even attempt to do the rear bushings without all new bolts.

Was your g20 a west coast car?

Can't burn a steel bolt out of there, I will just melt the whole spindle...

Not sure about its origins, but it isn't too rusty. Could have been a coastal car, those tend to get some rust on it.

Martin ended up just cutting it where it's exposed in the middle of the spindle, then pressing the remaining remnants that were stuck inside the spindle out, talk about a pain in the ass. The bushings are all burned out now, so we're straight. Now we just need to figure out the rear bushing situation.

Naw baws, they were rusted to the spindle. There's no bushing in the spindle, just in the control arms. The spindle is metal on metal. It sucked...

I'm running an older IR thunder gun for my 1/2 setup.. I also have a Snap-on IM31 in 3/8 that I love.

If anyones looking I'm selling my composite 3 position snapon AT360 gun. Its a 3/8 w/ 50-250ft. lbs adjustable.

My impact drawer...

I'm starting to hate my Earthquake impact. The thing weighs a ton, like Chris mentioned, the direction lever is stiff as hell, and it's not all that powerful.

I'd recomend the one from Ingersoll Rand. IR2135Ti . I bought mine new from ebay, it came out to $212 shipped. i think the sellers name was cbm tools. Once i saw the IR2135QTi (Quiet Version) at sears for i think 140 or 160. sometimes you just gotta wait to find a good deal.

This is a nice piece. We have one down at my shop.. and it works great. I've honestly never had a problem with the switch on it. I highly recommend it.
