Progress rear sway bar, installed

Just in time for this weekends autocross, I installed my adjustable progress rear sway bar .

Before

Comparison

After

Right now I have it on the middle setting. Hopefully I can handle the oversteer at this autocross. I wouldnt be surprised if I spin out. I wouldnt be surprised if I spin out on every single run... Although hopefully, I will be faster then before and place pretty well, but we'll see.

The install wasnt too bad. You can't fit a wrench in these stupid L brackets so you have to jam a screw driver in it, which subsequently gets stuck. I had to use washers to shim the hiem joints so they wouldnt bind, just like Toolapcfan had said. I probably could have used another washer even, but it didnt look like the nut was going to have enough bolt to grab onto. The hiem joints also wanted to spin when you try to tighten down the lock nuts. I had to twist it in the opposite direction first, so after I tightened it down they would be nice and lined up.

Shimmed hiem joint, drivers side:

Passenger side:

At full droop, the end of the sway bar nearly touch the struts, there is maybe a mm of space in there. I ended up installing everything with jack stands on the knuckles so it was loaded. I was pulled into my driveway which is on an incline, so I was hoping that with the rear in the air, it would level the car out. The rear was slightly to high, so I jacked up the front an inch or two until the car was level. That made it easy to get the L brackets parralel to the ground (since hte car was straight, I just used a level), and also to tighten down everything with the suspenion loaded.

And here is a picture I took tonight of me pulling into the driveway. That wheel is pretty far off the ground if you can't tell because of the lighting.

One stiff sway bar. Someone better get some shots of me three wheeling this weekend.

actaully you will be less likely to 3 wheel now. mine lifts up all the time entering lots/driveways..

i did not shim mine.. just mounted one joint on the inside and one on the outside of the bar..

AFA autox.. be careful.. what suspension are you running? when i put mine on last summer i had it MED and nearly spun all day at a Test N Tune.. until i figured out how to drive it.. now it's full stiff all the time and when people drive my car the say how well it rotates.. very predictable

I dont think I have every three wheeled before. From everyone that I've talked to with it, they all three wheel.

My suspension set up is as follows: Hyperco Gen2's on AGX's, Front stillen STB, rear Active Tuning STB, and the rear Progress bar. Before I was running the front agx's at 3 out of 4, and the rears at 7 out of 8. I think for this event maybe ill turn there rears down to 6. Previously, my car pretty much always understeers. I did get a slight hint of oversteer during one transition at the last autocross, but it was sloppy and putting my foot to the floor ended that pretty quick. Any advice on how to drive it? Right now im just going to give it some gas if it starts to go around on me, and hopefully not spin out. Do you brake any differently now? Earlier? TIA

i tend to not trail brake any more.. you WILL spin if you do that.. i brake earlier, lift when understeering mid corner, car will rotate, back on gas..

my setup is almost exactly the same as yours.. i run my AGX 2F, 6-8R depending on type of course... a more open course i'll go down to 6. for a tighter course i'll go up to 8 for more rotation on tight turns..

the car will still understeer to a degree, mostly in mid-corner.. just the nature of this car... not much you can do about directly.

I have the same set up, but I have only autocrossed once with it. I need to put the ES bushings in the rear so I can get rid of understeer. It's done well and I get mad compliments on that set up at track days and schools.
