I'm about to get into a big fight on another forum. The other guy says that the Maxima VQ35DE and the 350Z VQ35DE are different motors, I'm saying that they aren't. Only differences are orientation (longitudinal vs transverse) and tuning/cams little sh*t. Block, heads, all the same I believe. Who is right?

The block, heads, crank, oil pump, pistons, and rods are all the same.. The differences are the oil pans, front cover, water pump, intake manifold, plenum, cams, and headers. With that said.. a RWD block would work in a FWD car.. and vice-versa.. with changing the external parts over either way.

so, I have a rolling chassis here in N. Alabama... you want it? It has the NX2k brakes (I haven't decided whether or not I want to keep these brakes or leave 'em on my other car)

...I have another car to drive, so it's no biggie. No sunroof, either!

VQ30 5spds are 99% open diff... you can get a VQ30 5spd Viscous LSD trans from a 20th anniversary Maxima, and a few other models.. but it's harder to find. The VQ30DE trans can be fit with a Nissan Motorsports viscous LSD, or you can put a Phantom Grip in for a little less.

6spd trans from the Spec V comes with Helical LSD.. Some of the Maxima 6spd's come with Helical LSD.. Some come with open diff. SE-R 5 spd transmission is open diff.

if it fits in a b13 it will fit in a b12. Ill be interested if you make a swap kit for the b12. it is the same as a base model b13 as far as engine mounts and stuff.

what about the the vg30 from the 95-99 maxima? wouldnt that be a little cheaper to have done? Or would it not fit right? I mean in my mind the wiring would be easier and the motor/trans combo would be really easy to find and they would be cheaper too. Just a thought. Way to go on making something new and exciting .
