Call me Dumb, i don't care lol

I drive a 02 SER, and i just really started paying attention mechanical wise to cars.

However, i'm really feeling the thought of having a V6. My dad as the a 03 Maxima and that car is a monster on the road. I have a few questions ***.

1.how much is going to cost for this engine swap... and can it be done for an automatic?

2. Other than mechanical, what other mods have to be done to the car? (like, do the gauges have to be changed, will the check engine light stay on etc..)

3. If i decide to switch my car over to manual, what other parts will i need?

Ive had a vision lol....

b13/14 gutted to about 1500lb without motor and tranny.

Swap in a Vq35 with the following.

AEBS 4.3L stroker kit.
Cosworth heads and JWT cams
Garrett GT(40-47?)R aka big ass ball bearing turbo.
Built auto tranny or the latest 6spd with nismo diff.

Result.... Barnone fastest FWD street driven car in the u.s., possibly the world.

800whp? 700+whtq? 2000lbs? 9sec 1/4?

Cost? $15-20k

Has anyone heard about that dodge colt in cleveland that had a 700whp 4g63 in it? well basiclly the car was gutted, caged and undefeated (i think, well atleast stupid fast and cheap) then hit a wall going around 194mph. but if they can get 6-700whp out of a mitsu 2-2.3L then I'm sure this car would lay down atleast another 100whp on top of it and waaay more torque with freecken 4.3L's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dammit someone give me some moniessss!!!

hi, noob here. rather than make a new thread I thought I would ask the opinion from this thread since there's a lot of knowledgeable people in it.

Name's Red, I'm an Altima owner and member of Nissanclub.com
I'm going to be attempting to swap the VQ35 into a 1st gen Altima.

anyway, I've been reading up on this thread as well as others, and I had a question to anyone who's done this swap using the VQ30 harness and ECU: when you guys used the VQ30 wiring harness and ECU, what did you guys splice the remaining harness that powered accessories (like lights, dash, whatever else) into the VQ harness/ECU? If not, how did you take care of the other harness/parts? Thank you.

I've been waiting for a B13/ VQ swap kit to come out too. I haven't put any money into engine mods so I'll be ready to buy a VQ. The automotive manufactorers have been more aggressive horsepower wise lately, look at Mazda's new 263 hp turbo four as an example. It's going to take a VQ just to remain competitive with what's going to be hitting the showroom floors.

Guess I have to make my own kit..... and I am not using that junk VQ35.... VQ30DE-K all day long.

I want my engine to outlast the body, not having to deal with oil consumption issues. Really if you investigate a little bit more.... most 3.5L swaps are not that impressive in the older Maximas, it takes alot of tuning and mods to make them impressive. I just did a swap for a friend of mine, plus cams, RevUP oil pump etc... feels slower than my 3.0L Maxima.

VG weights more than a VH45DE out of a G50 Q45. VG makes 160HP in the SOHC trim and even if you got the DOHC motor to bolt up, its soo big that it wouldn't fit in the engine bay. VG is a good motor, but not something you want in a Sentra.

VQ30s can be had for 100-500 bux, and they will last 300K miles without any issues.

Aha.... and stripped down 4th generation 95-99 Maximas are around with 2600lbs with no problems... one guy got his down to 2510 after he stripped the car down completly.

Maximas are not heavy, as big as the car is... they are pretty light. My 01 weights 3021lbs and thats with a system in the trunk. Light suspension, wheels, Carbon fiber components strip it down a bit. Stock its 3100lbs.

New Sentra weights almost as much.

This said I am still standing by the old VQ30DE-K. Cause without the working CVTC its pretty much the same power.... 172ish WHP for the 95-99 motors, 185-199WHP for the 00-01 3.0L (depends on the wheel size from the factory) and about 205-210WHP for the 02-03 models. All manual tranny cars. Remove the CVTC from the 02-03 model and its about 190WHP.
