I think I may have found a solution for my Garmin.. I work with Axims and the connector fits but is a bit tight.. i have to look into the pinout for both to see if they match up properly...
now when I get home I'll have to install the software to see if it works as Ive been having trouble getting othr software to run on it...

cool...most likely it was that u didnt change the tab page to another, since thats not really very intuitive at all (especially since it says u need to restart, logically you would restart from that very page).

WOOT! Got it working on my Axim X5 using the BlaZt serial cable and a Gomadic serial adapter ($45 - ouch).

The refresh rate of V1.3.2 is much much faster than the older version. For some reason RPM & Duty cycle aren't available. I tried it on my 91 Automatic NX2000, and 93 5 speed NX2000 and both were the same.

Would it be possible to program the following enhancements?

-Landscape mode

-Timing / idle set mode. This is one of the most useful features of the 3rd party Consult apps, and would make your program a much more complete solution.

-Sensor / relay manipulation, like selectable cylinder deactivation, radiator fan override, self learn clear.

-Maybe think about reducing the number of color choices for the gauges

Overall, I'm thrilled that it even works. Great job.

I bought the X5 a few years ago and it's been sitting in the drawer. If you need to start from scratch, get one of the HP's which are smaller, faster, and have less expensive serial cable options.

The blazt cable was around $80, and the serial interface for the Axim was $45.

doesnt the PDA have a landscape option independant of the program running? if it does, just make sure its used before gauges are shown, as im not sure theyd adjust afterwards.

active tests are in the feature requests page on the site, and will most likely form v1.4 (there'll be another 1.3.x to include things before it like the ability to reconnect after u turn car back on)

colour choices are just all standard ones...obviously depending on screen colour depth, many of them will be the same colour on a PDA (wheres on desktop they will be different). may be useful to just have a colour circle thing rather than named colours, but theres many other important features to go in first

blazt are looking into making a cable up for ipaq's that will do the serial connection + charging:

Gotta run - but I want to reply quickly while you're here.....

Any idea why it doesn't show RPM and Duty Cycle as available?

did older versions show them?

i did change something minor in the way it detects them, i guess if older versions worked then its something to do with how i changed it (a few people have said randomly certain sensors wont show up), though theoretically it should work better than it did before (was the reason i changed it at all...and so that duty cycle and other sensors that derive from others only show up if the needed ones do)

i work at a nissan dealer and this is true. useing consult II if you want to use it on an OBDI car you use the OBDI cable and conect it to the consult computer. for OBD II you need to connect the OBD II cable with the OBD II converter on it.

OBD II cable=red plug
OBD I cable= grey plugs
OBD II converter box= medium sized black rectangle on the left (this goes inline between the OBD II plug and the consult box its self)

isnt that "converter" a cable self check device? (since you dont need a converter when u have both plugs on the cable)

my brother works at nissan, he said he might be able to borrow the consult 2 if i ever need it. i did borrow that adaptor, and turns out there is no straight thru connections from one side of the adaptor to another.

beta of v1.3.3 is posted if people want to help testing. its got the "auto reconnect" feature in for PDA users (ie turn car off while gauges showing, then back on and ecutalk will reconnect itself, no need to touch anything) which ive tested and seems to work fine, eg pulling cable, turning pda off, then reconnecting and turning pda back on.

but main thing is i need the 3 new sensors tests - distance, fuel used L, trip economy L (and miles/MPG equivalents), cause im without a car for a while so cant test it myself.

this release (when its complete) will likely be the last minor release before 1.4, which will hopefully have active tests.

edit: link removed, see post below

Will warning levels make this release or 1.4?

new beta: http://www.ecutalk.com/downloads/ECU....3.3_beta2.exe

fixes problems with empty sensor names and program quitting if u choose empty sensor on pocket pc.
only issue found with this beta2 is distance resets after 6.6km. anything else weird let me know

warning levels, active tests will probably be 1.4.

list of tickets that are assigned on the bugtracker page on ecutalk site are ones which will be in 1.3.3. from memory the things left to do:
1) offset value for timing for US users, i think -35 is needed for US users as when 50 is shown for some US cars, it means 15.
2) priority option so that u can lower ecutalk priority if u play mp3 etc or do other things while ecutalk is running.

The only gauge of these 3 working on my car is the "fuel used", dunno yet if it's accurate though..
