ill have beta3 available within a day or so. it will have:
1) fixed distance (so shouldnt reset at 6.6km)
2) priority option (so mp3 playing isnt laggy)
3) timing offset (so US cars which have normal timing show up as 50, can apply -35 to get it back to 15).
4) selecting derived sensors will automatically select pre-requisitive sensors
5) fuel used is now 2 decimal points instead of 1.

maybe a couple more things i havent done yet (ive already done those above)

ECUTalk_v1.3.3_beta, with metric settings, yep speed sensor selected. The "distance" gauge showed 1 after a while and didn't change at all after that. "Trip economy" was maxed out, 24.0 or something (?), didn't move at all.

beta2

v1.3.3_beta (the first) had a fair bit of issues with the new sensors (distance didnt work at all), but beta2 they should work fairly good (aside from distance resetting after 6.6km). just remember to check rpm/injector/speed.

hopefully will have beta3 available in about 12 hours from now. it will select the needed sensors for you (ie when u choose distance it makes sure speed is selected) so no need to remember which ones are needed

beta3

New features in beta3 below, along with a fix for distance sensor resetting after 6.6km.
#14 Add offset option timing so US users can get correct timing readings
#24 Derived sensors should select dependent sensors automatically
#26 Priority option for ECUTalk (eg so mp3 etc play fine)

Also minor change to delays in between commands, may help people who dont always get all sensors detected? Also minor change to consult reading for gauges, to reduce chances of corrupt data being accepted, eg you see all gauges flick to weird values for a second

ECUTalk v1.3.3 Beta 4 (2007-08-21 23:10:34)

I've uploaded the 4th and most likely final beta build of ECUTalk v1.3.3, beta4. I'm fairly sure all the functionality introduced in these betas now works as intended, though I haven't had much if any feedback from Imperial sensor (Mi/Gal/MPG etc) users. If there are no problems with this build, it will become final v1.3.3.

New features/fixed bugs in beta4 below:
#10 Put font size/scaling for gauges in options
#31 When value exceeds gauge maximum, the actual value should be on digital readout
#32 When you read fault codes without having connected to ecu, ecutalk exits
#33 Gauge colour preview doesnt update till you restart ECUTalk
#35 Save long term trip sensor statistics
#36 Clear trip statistics from sensors
#37 Option dropdown lists are editable on laptop/PC (shouldn't be)
#38 check for port open when reconnecting when gauges showing
#39 Put option in for data flush wait time
#41 If using L|T|R|B settings in the ini file, the gauges arent displayed properly if L is far from 0.

Additional notes:
1) For Flush Wait option, 100ms is default, lower values will give quicker startup times, but higher values might help with some connection problems, eg sensors not showing up, ECU part number not being read, gauges not moving when showing gauges, etc. Eg I can use 20ms on my desktop and 50ms on my 568 Jornada.
2) For Font Base Size and Increment, this allows you to specify a font size, and then the amount of pixels which the font size will be incremeneted depending on gauge size. Eg 6pt + 50px increment on a 200px wide gauge = 10pt font.
3) Also a minor fix to heading names in logs so distance/fuel used have units (KM/Mi,L/Gal)

Spent a lot of work on this one, got a lot of the niggling issues out of the way, the new trip meter sensors along with saving/reset ability should prove quite useful for those with pocket pc/car pc setup Any issues with it let me know.

I just wanted to thank you for making this software Peter. I've been using it sense I found it surfing the net. It works %100 for me every time.

I'm downloading the last Versions now.

Thanks!

Peter,

everything seems to work fine. Not a full beta-test, just a quick feature-assesment this time but they do work!

THANKS-THANKS-THANKS !!!

#31 above not tested but... have you thought of actually using this as a general "Warning Light" feature?

I do know it might be very time consuming to implement due to the way the gauges are "painted" but you may consider it as a nice feature in certain gauges. TEMP for example... make the gauge go up to 100-105 C only and ...presto!!! Instant Ovwerheat warning !!!

This is assuming that the gauges are pre-implemented and not re-drown on program startup. IF they are... User-selected Gauge Maximum is in order!!!

user defined warnings - http://www.ecutalk.com/mantis/view.php?id=3

i could make the min/max of gauges customisable but itd be a lot of work and would be easier and simpler to just define warning levels independant of gauge min/max. there would be a point where things become too customisable that people get lost in all the options...as it is, theres 2 pages of options now!

there are some gauges, like economy, where exceeding min/max would mean nothing (eg when car is not moving ur economy will be infinite, or 99.9 as i put it)

Understood. I was just suggesting a way to "easily" have "warning-like" functionality for critical gauges if the analog-to-digital-gauge-change is already implemented.

I'm gonna bump for this - it would definitely be a complete solution with this option.

I just got one the other day (HP ipaq 4150) and am currently waiting for a serial cable that I bought off ebay for $4. I think that I'll only be able to use it on one of my SR20's. I have a B13 Calum ECU w the Consult adapter on one of the cars and I don't think that it will work with the ECU talk software...this is according to Calum's site.

I guess I need to get a battery to hook up the other SR20 car.!!!

If its the old style Consult-on-board ROM board (RS-232 consult) it will work just fine. The Realtime ECU (USB consult) would work if your PDA could act as a USB host and you got the drivers loaded correctly. I don't know of anyone that has done that yet.

idle/set timing - http://www.ecutalk.com/mantis/view.php?id=7

will hopefully be in v1.4 along with active tests, warnings etc (hopefully will have that by end of year or so).

only very few PDA's have usb host functionality...if the realtime has ability to use normal consult port, then you could always get a rs232 consult cable for it?

Finally got my null modem adapter and it works great with my Calum ECU with the Consult port!! I can't wait to drive it to work tomorrow!!

Peter - does ECUtalk have the ability to put the car into timing mode so I can adjust my timing? I really hate doing it the manual way where I have to disconnect the TPS sensor and rev it 3x, etc...

GREAT PRODUCT BTW!!
