Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to get a roll call on people that have roller rocker SR20's in their vehicles. That is mainly those that have done JDM RR swaps, USDM RR Swaps. I just want to get a rough tally.
First off, I have done my info searching and have displayed much of it in the thread in my signature. Again, please see that thread if you are wondering about information for this engine. Please disregard this thread if you don't have time.
I know I'm asking a lot, but I wanted to get a tally of the following information:
Quote:
1) Your Engine Number: (number on driver side by transmission)
2) Car Model & Year
3) Was this engine swapped in? (Yes/No)
4) If Yes for 3)... JDM or USDM?
5) If Yes for 3)... Was a change in ECU necessary?
6) Any other infomation you have to offer (for example, your mods, if you swapped; what you swapped over, what you got rid of, where engine came from, what year you think it is, problems, etc...)
7) Fastest way to contact via internet
Example:
1) 866695A
2) 1998 200SX SE-R
3) Yes
4) JDM
5) No (indicating no change for ECU)
6) I swapped over my intake manifold, had problems with swap. I like long walks on the beach, the engine I had was for an automatic, car has 53J on the head, I got it from Soko. I have an all silver VC. I also switched out my distributor. I had tubular exhaust mani and switched it out, this engine is more peppy, etc.)

The reason that I am asking this infomation is so that, if need be, roller rocker people on here have a ring of people to talk to. This thread is primarily aimed at people that have swapped from non roller rocker to roller rocker. That said, I understand that SE owners have OEM RR SR20's and I know that they can only aid in the gaining experience with modifications for this particular engine.
The other reason that I am starting this thread is so that I, or anyone else for that matter can have a better understanding of the RR engine in a non-roller rocker chassis, specifically the B14.
I apologize if this is in the wrong section admins/moderators but if need be, I guess it can be relocated to where it needs to be. Thanks all
Ameen...

1) SR20 740617 near tranny 2J2 5J on head
2) 1998 Sentra SE
3) Yes engine was swapped
4) Probably JDM, came from SOKO
5) Running 95-97 ECU JWT 9.5:1 non-roller Turbo porgram
6) I bought the car already swapped in January. Here is what I know:
Car was turbo'd on original engine with basic T25 setup. Original engine developed severe oil burning issue and was replaced. New engine from SOKO turned out to be a RR (sound familiar Ameen?). The non-roller intake manifold and valve cover were used, probably other stuff too. Has been swapped for ~10,000 miles.
7) Feel free to PM me here.
RR's aren't all bad:

The reason is the RR is more efficient because of the 4 counterweigh crank and the roller rocker design in the head, less hp loss due to less friction.

2) 1994 sunny gt-s
3) yes engines was swapped
4) jdm
5) primera p11 ecu
6) swapped in engine as is, complete harness not available thus rewiring was necessary, rr silver valve cover, red injectors, weird stamp saying 1r 2j2, has ribs, tranny housing has a "#1" stamp and a 32131-50J stamp in the tranny cover
7) you can pm me here or thru yahoo messenger with id dirrty_jave
Dirty... I just saw your Sunny, I really like that thing man... Very Clean.
thanks bro! but as most car enthusiasts start, my car too started as an overdecorated rice mobile. its only when i learnt about JDM when it became a lot cleaner looking. thanks for the comment bro
Will I be the only 200 w/ a JDM Roller Rocker Motor??? That would be sweet
Oh yeah!
1) 866695A
2) 1998 200SX SE-R
3) Yes
4) JDM
5) No (indicating no change for ECU)
6) I swapped over my intake manifold, the engine I havewas for an automatic, flywheel, distributor, coolant lines, exhaust header, intake manifold, ac compressor, alternator, steering pump, all brackets were switched. Basically stripped both engines so they were naked VC/Head/Block/Pans. Then swapped everything over. Engine has 53J on the head, I got it from Soko. I got it on accident and I like it... I have an all silver RR VC. I switched out the Valve Cover with my 98 SR20 non RR, but I found that with thermoblok spacers the roller cover will fit... so I will be doing that...

1) Engine Number: 2J2...
2) 1996 200sx se-r
3) Yes, the engine was swapped.
4) USDM(?)
5) No. 96 ecu worked fine. However, programmed it with JWT for turbo application.
6) No mods were done to the engine internally. GT28RS kit was slapped on after the swap. SOKO unexpectedly sent a RR motor. (I am fine with that, just have to watch my boost and lots of retarding to save any detonation, none so far).
7) PM here is fastest way to contact via internet
I like the sound and fast revving capability of this motor better than my previous usdm 93, 97 and jdm 91 motor. I do not like the 7100 or so limit. I had mine locked at 7100 so I never touch 7500 limit or more. (better safe than sorry as this is a daily driver)
For question 1) can you check your numbers along the front of the engine by where it connects to the tranny?... (well... the front of your car side)
For question 4) does "USDM?" mean you don't know if it was JDM or USDM? I might be able to help figure it out, not that it matters.
As far as your limiting of the revs I'm glad that you did what you did, better to be safe than sorry! I think my 98 ecu revs a little higher than my liking... I will have to drive very carefully in the future. Good stuff...

roller rocker motors are amazing and very smooth power comes on immediatly even when it was stock.
