how are the sharp edges(hood, doors, fenders) fairing with the roll on paint? the crappy maaco job that is on mine is chipping at every sharp edge on the car and i really need to repaint.

the paint that I rolled on the edges of my trunk are extremely thin. A few wetsanding passes with 800 grit will reveal the original paint layer. It probably has to do with my paint mixture, which is so thinned out that the vertical part of my trunk is very difficult to paint with the constant running.

What I have noticed about overthinning the paint is that the next layer that is applied is not thick enough to hide the wetsanded/prepped surface prior to rolling. I think I will thicken up the mixture of paint that I have, and roll on some super thick final layers prior to doing a final wetsand/polish. I've got about 5 thin layers so far and the surface still looks crappy.

well I've been working on my trunk for about a week, and today I decided buff the paint surface with my Porter Cable. I let it dry for 2 days. The top coat is extremely thin. I used Meguiar's fine cut cleaner with an orange pad, and then did a ghetto polish with a microfiber towel and Optimum Polish. Below are pics of the half of the trunk I polished. Everything else is wetsanded with 2000 grit sandpaper.

This is a gloss black paint. I realized that it looks greyish because the paint mixture I have is too thin--the previous wetsanded layer was easily visible (the layers grey up when wetsanded). I will probably thicken up the paint mixture tomorrow, wetsand again, and put on a super duper thick final layer. then it's back to wetsanding, buffing, and polishing again.

Oh and below is a pic of my door that I painted over just to see how well this stuff sticks. I only wiped the dirt off the surface with my hands, then rolled the paint on. Was rolled on about 4 days ago. It cannot be scratched off at all, and the paint underneath it was still very smooth; Earl Scheib single stage paint job

looks good. I think I'm going to start mine next week. I'm painting the roof black and the red of the car red.
