Finally put the 4 pointer on the car Friday. First issue I had was that I stripped a bolt on the rear right mounting point and couldn't get all 4 points firmly connected. I thought I would be ok, as I was mainly looking for fitment (which was excellent) and clearance.

Here you can see 2 things: there is clearance for probobly up to a 4" or 5" downpipe at the expense of not enough (imho) ground clearance. Remember, this is on an NX running Hypercos. You can also see the right rear end of the brace bolted to nothing.

Turned out I was wrong. Here is a pic from this afternoon before we put it on the lift:

And here is a closer look once we got it up in the air.

If you look at the left side of the brace, you'll see that even though it took a few scrapes, it held up due to the rear mounted support. The reason I'm sure the right side bent was because there was no rear support to keep it from shifting when it scraped. With proper 4 point mounting, I'm sure it would still be straight and square, although it would still be scraped on a lowered car like mine.

If anyone has skills with metal and is interested, I'll let this one go for $25 plus shipping. In the meantime, I'll hang it on the garage wall as a decoration.

My opinion is that this is a very lightweight, good exhaust clearance, but limited ground clearance, lower control arm brace. On a racetrack, or if you have mostly smooth roads where you live, this may be a good choice for you. As this is actually a GTIR chassis piece (just like the strut tower brace I sell) I think it should fit a B14 as well as a B13 since as I understand it the front suspensions are very similar. However, I can't confirm this as I only have B13s in my stable. If any one is interested in one of these, post in this thread and I'll check on pricing for you.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not selling or anything, just some info I can help with.

Regarding the clearance issue, mine's some 3 cm lower than the bar running along the downpipe. Haven't hit anything yet, but that depends on the road and I've been really careful with it.
