Brian crower Stage 1 cams

I am thinking about purchasing a set of BC cams for my 92 classic. They are the street grinds which JGY says will work ok with a stock set up. How much HP and am looking to get? Right now, my plans are Header, 2.25 exhaust, and WAI. I would love a cold air intake, but they are either really rare or really expensive for my car. If someone could tell me how to fab one, that would be great!

Here's the quote from JGY's website:

Brian Crower Cams for the SE-R!
Street/Strip Specification - $259
Plug and play application. Short duration for street (264), slight lope at idle. Excellent all purpose, OEM spring OK.

First of all BC makes a stage 2 and a stage 3, not a stage 1. Second of all we sell those cams for $255 shipped.

While you are at it, do an Advanced Search on JGY. Limit your search to the Buyer Seller Feedback area only. Use "JGY" and search titles only. You can thank me later.

Please support your Forum Vendors, they also have a better price.

WTF no one reported this post? I mean, seriously, there's only like TWENTY BILLION THREADS, on CAMS, ALONE!

On a lighter note, BC STG 2's are fine. Just don't take them up past ~7K rpm, without springs/retainers. Which means, buying cam gears to bring the power band back down, since they love making power up past 8K RPM.

Why wouldnt you want to take the BC stg 2's past 7k? The stage 3's need springs and retainers. BUt why the stg 2's?

Actually, I did report this post.

92senortwenty, you seem like a very bright and enthusiastic new member. Please become a little more familiar with that Search Button, and leave that Thread Starter Button alone for bit.

Check out that thread I posted, it really will get you pointed in the right direction.

Welcome to the forum.

i had the same debate with him the other day.. this ismy thing.. stage 2's are suppose to be like s4's(so ppl claim) you dont need s/r for s4's so why would you need them for bc stage 2's to safely rev to 7500???

Don't sweat it, you are new, no flaming, just suggesting.

Honestly, you will get good with the search button with practice. Searching is not some god-given talent, it is a skill. Like any other skill, you can improve upon it. I sh*t you not.

Just to give you an example, this will answer your question on JGY:

1) Advanced Search. Let's narrow this down a bit.

2) JGY into the subject field.

3) Thread titles only. I want threads on the subject of JGY, not some guy that has a JGY part on his car.

4) Buyer Seller Feedback area only for my search. I could care less about anything else at this moment.

5) Bingo. A couple of pages on JGY specific feedback threads.

This is the first JGY feedback thread, right at the top:

http://www.sr20forum.com/buying-sell...ml#post2150826

And that specific post (by me) pretty much sums up the JGY Customer Service Experience. However, feel free to read the rest of the threads on JGY.

I'll do "BC cams" for you as well.

1) Advanced Search. Always use an Advanced Search, it narrows down the possibilities and results.

2) "BC+cams" in the subject field.

3) Thread Titles only.

4) Specify threads within the last year only. I don't want old information, and BC cams are fairly new.

5) Specify that you want at least "5" posts in the thread. I don't want some tiny little wuss thread, I want threads with some folks discussing the subject.

6) Main Forums only for my search. I am not interested For Sale ads and bullsh*t.

7) Three (3) threads of information on BC cams.

8) If you "scan" your mouse over the thread titles, it will give you a "glimpse" of the first post. Also, the titles should tell you what the subject is, and look at the section of the forum that the thread is actually posted in. All of these things will narrow down the number of threads that you actually even have to read.

Bada-bing. Searching without good results SUCKS big-time. It makes me want to throw my monitor through the window. However, once you get the hang of it, you can find practically any information you require. 24/7/365 the Search Button will be your best source of information.

That is two (2) of your concerns/questions accounted for. I will leave the rest up to you.

I seriously hope that helps, and welcome to the forum!

Lift. The STG 3's wont even turn over without S/R. The STG 2's have too much lift for stock components. You take 12.05mm of lift up past 7K, and you can for sure expect valve float on stock Springs and Retainers, in the future.
