GAS CONSUMPTION!!!

HEY...

TO ALL B13 OWNERS...

NOW THAT GAS PRICES ARE UP TO THE SKY, I WANTED SHARE WITH YOU ALL SOMETHING THAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION ON MY NON-TURBO B13 (STOCK ENGINE).

LAST WEEKEND I DROVE FROM QUEENS, NY TO FORT WASHINGTON, MD. THERE ARE 250 miles. HOWEVER, WHEN I GOT TO BALTIMORE CITY, MY GAS NEEDLE WAS ON RED ALREADY. I THOUGHT THAT A SINGLE TANK WOULD LAST ME UNTIL I GET TO MY DESTINATION. SO, I FILL IT UP.

ON MONDAY, ON MY WAY BACK, I HAD TO TANK AGAIN WHEN I GOT TO NJ EXIT 14. SO THEN THIS SURPRISED ME ONE MORE TIME COZ I THINK IT'S NOT NORMAL.

SO, I ASK TO ALL OF YOU... DON'T YOU GUYS THINK THAT MY B13 IS CONSUMING A LOT OF GAS???

SENTRA'S HAVE A GREAT REPUTATION FOR THEIR LOW GAS CONSUPTION !!!

ALL COMMENTS ARE VERY WELCOME!!!

Your post doesn't make any sense.

You didn't even tell us what kind of gas mileage you were getting.

I get 30mpg if I go 65. 23-25 if I go 75. I fill up when I get below a quarter tank and it's always about 10 gallons.

I was getting poor gas mileage, and I noticed my car was smoking during hard acceleration. I checked my maf, it was dirty, the connection was corroded, and the coolant temp sensor connection was corroded. I cleaned it up and got instant results.

turn off your caps and use a normal font size, then we'll talk.

also, give us real information! we can't tell you if you're below normal if we don't know what your numbers are.

Hey... I live in Fort Washington, MD...
You should let forum members know when you are in the area!!...

I would think that you should have made 300 miles on a tank of gas at least.
When is the last time that you performed a basic tuneup? This could be as simple as old plugs, old wires, old rotor, or cracked dizzy cap. Or your throttle body is simply dirty.. I would start with a basic tuneup w/filters & PVC.

Also, how many miles on your O2 sensor?? Maybe time for a new one?

^I need to get a new pcv and clean my TB.......My mileage has dropped a bit......I am only getting about 285 on a full tank.....Jen do you have a pop on your car? It so, what did you clean yours with? I have some K&N spray I will probably use.....Plugs, wires, cap, and button are good..........I may go pick up a fuel filter this weekend.......I have a 255Walbro laying around, but this may make my mileage worse if I put it in.......Advancing the timing hurts the mileage a bit as well.......MAF is regrounded already and is not corroded anywhere.

I get about 325 to a tank. But, I drive like a grandma around town. Also, make sure your tires are always fully inflated. This makes a considerable difference.

^I have 17's and this may be some of my problem. I weighed my 17's vs my stock, and I think it was a 7 to 8 pound difference..........I'll get some new tires for my stockies and run another test and RE-WEIGH them.

Leaks will also kill your mpg. Especially Exhaust leaks and vacuum leaks. They really rob your gas. Just dont forget the O2 sensor. An OLD O2 sensor is the worst culprit here...

I dont think its as much as weight as the size of the tire.. My stock 13's are like half the width of the 17's.
