Oil CApacity when changing

hey guys, it has been quite awhile since I've owned an SR. Changing my recent 98 SE awhile ago. I put 3 quarts in there. I don't have the manual so just shot in the dark. I recalled the manual indicated 3 5/8...something. So, is that equate to about 3 1/2 quarts??

I think I usually end up dumping 4 in mine.

Why don't you just add a little bit and check?

I've check like about 5 times, I put 3 qts. in it, it went over the H mark. The dipstick on mine is a biatch. I bend to the curve of the metal pipe and between the coolant and aC line.

apparently it is common for the sr20's to 'hide' some oil when changing it. I only got 3 liters in before it was toppped up and it stayed steadly for two months and then I had to add about a 1/4 liter.

my change yesterday was exactly what Coors topped off. I put three quarts in it, man, it when over the H and around the top bend of the dip stick

After adding the oil you need to crank the engine to let X amount of oil go into the new filter again and then shut it down and wait for a little while before checking for the oil level again. It should hold just under 4 qts.

3 5/8 Quarts of 5W-30. 3.625 if you want to get technical. That INCLUDES the filter. No more, no less.

... same issue I had today with my '95 SE-R... put in about 3 litres and ran the car for a few minutes. Turned it off and waited a couple mins to check the level and it was over the full (over the "H" mark by about 1/4").

I double checked my owner's manual and it says 3.4L when changing the oil and filter. Should I drain some out to get the level on the dipstick to the proper full level??
