blower motor resistors

sure its been covered.... but folks i gotta tell you all again
when your blower resistor fails, and it will
JUST TAKE IT OUT AND RESOLDER THOSE TWO SILVER SPOTS
ON THE BLACK SIDE.
ONE MINUTE TO DO.works great and saves bucks.
you dont need a new one. this is the easiest to access and repair of any part on any b13 or g20. dont know about the b14.

Shame on me for not searching, but your post makes a convenient place for this question

I have speeds 1-3 and no 4/full. I've seen the resistor issue leave you with only one speed or none at all, but never just 3. IIRC it's 0-1-2-3-4-max. Possible Switch problem or still the usual resistor issue?

Good tip, Nissan charges way too much for replacement resistors. The only one I ever bought for my U13 was something like $25-30, outrageous stealership price.

Thanks in advance.

Start with the resistor, then swap the blower motor with a used one (easy enough to find with all the part outs) then go to the switch (something else easy to get with part outs).

Isn't a switch generally cheaper than even a part-out blower motor? If the blower motor runs dead reliable at all 3 speeds I do have I kinda doubt it won't run faster but I could check that out with bypassing the switch.

I just sort of discounted the resistor since if they have problems it is they don't step down for slower speeds or work at all.

Thanks, I think what I will do is jump the switch and see if I get full motor, then check the motor and resistor if I don't. Haven't given it much thought in awhile since 3 blows pretty well, but lately getting warmer out, don't want to use the a/c when I don't really need to, and the car stayed cool enough on full fan before.

edit: and the other reason, whenever these things work halfway, they fail completely sooner or later!

Those resistors are their intentionally to burn when something shorts. Sadly, they seem to burn over time. Though I also would bypass solder them, be prepared that next time (probably when u forgot about the bypass) something else goes. Maybe with a small fire too.
