i have a 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-R
i bought it a month and a half back when i bought it the seller told me it just overheated, so i bought it and replaced the water pump amd when i was checking it for anything else, the radiator was broken and smashed where the top hoses go. if i drive it at around 50 miles an hour its fine and doesnt overheat witht the new pump. but 10 miles into a simple drive the car had a massive power surge and i had to drop 2 gears to keep it up to speed, then a mile or so after that the car just shut off. any ideas what i should fix or what to do?
(replacing the radiator today)

You say it had a massive power surge. I'm guessing that means it took a hit to the electric system. Guess what sits right below the top radiator hose...the alternator. I've had a similar issue with the top plastic "neck" on my rad being cracked and leaking significant coolant onto a pretty fresh replacement alternator and I had to replace the alternator again.

I may be totally off-base but that is what came to mind right away. Good luck!
