I bought a dremel with the fiberglass reinforced cutoff wheels and it hardly cut anything before it broke off in itsy-bitsy little pieces. Was I cutting at the wrong angle? Are there any other power tools that I can use to cut the metal?

Hey Fig, how did you cut out your rear wheel well? Can I just go to a body shop and ask them to do it? And if I do it will I have to route my exhaust to the side so I won't flood my car with deadly fumes?

Yeah it does need a bath!!! I just throw the hose on it.

I admit it gets neglected on the BATH treatments.
But hey, I like stomping V-8s and turbos with a dirrrty car.

IT BROKE!!??.................... damn!

You have to cut at a 90 degree angle to make the wheel last.
I have no problems.
I used a SAWZALL for the trunk.
You dont have to reroute the exhaust.
Just dont leave any open holes for the fumes to come in.

I was wondering if anyone here is running their daily driver with a lightweight battery? I tried out my hawker battery for the first time today with the engine warmed up, and the engine cranked over pretty slowly compared to how my Exide battery cranks the engine. I'll have to see how the battery cranks the engine over on a cold start.

This is normal for the batteries on their first crank. Once you drive it awhile and it's charged up, it should crank just as strong as the stock battery.

4lb carbon fiber / titanium mufflers.

I've seen some that weigh less than 3 lbs too. My greddy muffler(excluding pipe) weighs around 15lbs.

My car was a daily driver for almost 2 yrs with a LAWNMOWER battery.
I never had one problem.
Now its a Weekend Warrior and the battery STILL never fails me.

Im not sure how cold it gets in Hawaii, though

Are there any other power tools that I can use to cut the metal?

here are some redneck fourwheelin tips ....

on my truck i use a sawzall for vertical cuts and a jigsaw with a metal blade for horizontal cuts or cuts in smaller areas.. my friends also use grinders with cutoff wheels very well..easier to control then sawzalls.

Ok I'm going to try running the Hawker battery for awhile. After driving around with it for 3 days, it still cranks the engine over pretty slowly (4-6 struggling turns before the engine fires up)... Not sure what's up with that. If it keeps this up I will more than likely go back to my exide, and only use the hawker if/when I clock my car at the local track. Here's some pic:

I used a ratchet tie-down to hold the battery in place. SmoothDaddy/other weight reduction gurus would prolly slap me for doing such a thing (it weighs a good .25 lbs I'd say), but honestly zip ties just didn't cut it for me--the battery moved around easily even with 3 zips holding the battery. Plus, it's very easy to take it off/put it back on. And it holds tight like a mutha! The edge of the battery tray actually started bending inward a bit as I tightened the ratchet

Nice. Keep it coming.

Just for everyone's info I took out a H22 Civic Hatch with a 50 shot. Plenty of peeps from this forum were there.

Funny thing is that he saw my car and was like "NO WAY am I racing this thing"

Gotta love the beast.
