Don't wanna read though 25 pages to find out if it's been discussed so... have any of you thought of getting cheaper parts? I work at a paint shop and sometimes I get parts from Taiwan which are a lot cheaper than genuine parts and a lot lighter. This goes for doors, hoods, fenders and such. Parts look the same as genuine parts but are made from very noticably thinner metal.
This might be a little random but when i was switching glovebox skins in my b14 i found this hunk of solid metal in between the glovebox & outer glovebox lid, the things only in there to give the glovebox lid some heft.

I noticed the same exact thing in my B13 last weekend.

Empty the windshield washer bottle. Water is about 7 lbs a gallon.
Go over all the seams and remove the sound deadening material. I filled 3 Safeway bags with that junk. Probably 30 lbs that can be easily removed. If you want to sleep under the car remove the junk from the underside. Takes forever but is another 20 lbs. or so.

I have Taiwanese front and rear bumper support beams. The front one nearly cuts the OEM weight in half, while the rear is about 1/3 lighter.
Even drilling and cutting the OEM one won't lighten it considerably as much as the Taiwanese replacements.
