The body of the SE-R is actually lighter than the E models (with cars engines removed). 2 Doors are almost always lighter than four door cars like the SE/XE. Then gut EVERYTHING! All panels including the dash, Sound dampener under the carpet and the carpet, lighter driver seat (only have 1 seat in car), Remove the heater core/coolant lines. Remove Evaporator core, get rid of stereo system, speakers, unused wires (remove from harness), unnessisary bolts, remove Compressor, P/s system, spoiler, replace hood with CF, remove exaust and run open downpipe, take out back seats, remove windshield wiper motor, wipers, resevoir/pump. Cut out unimportant metal parts of car, cut out spare tire well and weld a flat piece of sheet metal where it used to be. Replace all windows with newer ones (lighter than original windows), Rear seat belts, passenger seat belt, fuel tank (use a lightweight plastic fuel cell), Remove EGR system with charcoal canister, get rid of unnecissary vacuum and other lines, use a motorcycle battery, remove whole AC system including the liquid line dryer, evaporator, expansion valve. Get rid of fog lights! Get rid of dash support. Get rid of firewall insulation. In the end it all adds up and you should easily be under 2000lbs. Good luck.

So the SE-R with sway bars, sunroof, abs, and power steering rack weighs less than a two door manual E model??

I have a P10 5spd with a sr20ve in it. I plan on getting a cheap E model and swaping over everything including the harness. insurance is cheaper on an E model than SE-r too

I'm starting to lighten up my SE-R a little. Toolapcfan and I will be installing my new Odyssey PC680 in the trunk here soon. I took off the front bumper today and boy is that bumper beam heavy! I think it was listed here at 25 lbs and it definitely feels like it. I'm trying to think of more things to remove from the front end of the car to drop weight. The A/C and P/S are staying as I like to AutoX still, but eventually I can see this car becoming more of a track car later.

Now to the pics...everyone likes pics right?

Room for a FMIC???

This thing was trapped in my bumper. WTF?! Maybe that's why only one of my high beams work and my fogs never worked. LOL.

Bumper

So how do you go about "gutting" the bumpers? and still keep the mounts.

i would think they are talking about something like this...

i ended up cutting more out of the top bacically ended up cutting everything on the inside out. this was to fit a fmic on my nx.

if it wasnt for the fmic i would have never hacked up the bumper though. the bumper supports serves a purpose that being keeping the motor from landing in your lap. but ya gotta pay to play...
