man, lot of you guys seem fit. i just gained 15 pounds this semester and i can really tell my classic wants me to lose some pounds... (not really)

goal for summer: install my hotshot header, CAI, power windows, and lose 20 lbs. (5-7, 185 now) :0

Given that my wife and I work in relative proximity to each other, and we carpool to work together in my classic, I don't think that I'll be stripping my car. Don't think she's let me get away with that, so I guess I'll be doing a certian form of weight reduction this summer that entails me working out and running a lot, since that's the only weight reduction available to me - so that's what I'll do!
BTW - you guys are nuts!!!

Yes, it includes all of the above. Just like unbolting the hinges, cutting the wire harness and throwing it on a scale.

ooo, how bout only putting on 1/2 of the valve cover nuts!? or how about removing the whole front end, cutting a slice off the back of it, and reinstalling? just think, not only the metal, but at LEAST 2" of radiator hose weight, and the coolant contained within!
Really though, I get hacks all the time about my car, and all i removed is everything behind the front seats. I'm LOVING this post. Makes me wanna use my sawzall more! Too bad I'm a bass nut and need my 12" sub and ported box(uh, 100lbs?)
NEXT WEIGHT MOD FOR ME (on a NX) is remove all the plastic and rear wiper crap from the rear deck lid. I'll post weights but darn if I know how to post pics still and I'm afraid to ask cause the search nazi's(even though i've searched and the links confused the crap out of me).
Smoothdaddy, nice car, very wicked! I'd buy it for sure (esp. for just 2k) if I didn't already have my first love(93 NX2k)

ok, I got my rear wiper motor and all the plastic/rubber strip around hatch window off my nx. --altogether weighs 7lbs! nice reduction for 5 minutes of work and you don't hardly even notice it being gone. I also removed about 1-1.5 sqare feet of that tar mat insulation that's stuck to everything--weighed 1lb, 2oz.--filled a small ziploc bag. I'll just go ziploc bag at a time until it's done. Kindof like a diet for my car!

What did you do about the hole coming out of the hatch for the rear wiper?

For the rear wiper hole, just grab one of the rubber plugs from the floor in the rear and plug it in, whichever way you chose. I plugged mine in from the inside so no-one can pull it out...easily anyway. I just picked up a bunch of plugs from the salvage to replace the missing ones. I'm planning on removing the rear wing too. I'll need 4 tiny plugs for that.

Damn, you guys gave me the bug. I spent a little time to day "trimming" my car. Pulled about 75lbs from it by stripping most everything behind the front seats. Im thinking if I get some time this week the carpet and sound deadener will take a ride as well. Hey I only got a GA under the hood, so I might as well make its job easier right. You guys that gut your hoods and trunks I have a question for you. What if any ill affects from doing it? Im Gonna get a CF hood in the future any way, but Im liking the gut idea for now.

*EDIT* The subs took a ride as well. Now Im 130ish lighter than I was when I woke up.

The hood gets really flexible and you need pins to hold it down to keep it from bending at higher speeds.

6'3" 130 lbs. Stick my scrawny ass in a light car and it'd be over! I'm half tempted to turn my car into "drag only" and strip everything, but it's my daily driver and will continue to be for a long time.

I've got the weight bug too, Today I chiseled/drilled/wiggled brackets off--1.jack holder bracket--1lb. 2.rt. rear seat upper mount bracket(large)2lbs. Plastic trim from BOTH triangle windows--3lbs. Total loss of 6lbs! Next to go is the THICK tar mats where the rear seat was.

Hey Pat--you've got it easy for now...the first 50-100 is easy, and noticeable right away! 6lbs here and there isn't much, but 6lbs a week for a year...uh, that's a lot. KEEP IT UP!
