I just asked the friendly forum-guru Matt if it would be OK to post this...he said "Great" so here we go....
Grassroots Motorsports magazine just acquired a 1991 Sentra SE-R as a project car for our publication. We'll be restoring, modifying and having a blast with it. Our plan is to build it up for SCCA's STX class, with a good dose of HPDE events as well.
Several of our editors have owned SE-Rs in the past, from past-GRM employee Mark Chiles and his championship winning white car, to David Wallens and Per Schroeder both owning SE-Rs before working at GRM...so this will be somewhat of a homecoming, yet also the first time we as a magazine have tackled this particular car as a full project.
I'll probably start posting more over in the Autocross portion of this forum, but I figured that a quick "hello" to the general population would be appreciated.

Welcome Per! I am a huge fan of the magazine and save all of my issues for reference. It was great seeing the Ro-Spit at Carlisle a couple years ago. I eagerly look forward to seeing project SE-R. Have you guys given any thought to coming to the '05 SERCA National Convention in Austin, TX? Its going to be held on the first w/e of April.
BTW, I like the rally content and appreciate you guys giving it coverage. Keep up the great work!

Austin: Possible..but not likely with our production schedule
STS vs STX. STS is somewhat of a been there/done that for a lot of SE-R owners and myself in our Civic. Figured STX would be fun with a beefier limited slip and wider front wheels.
Its ok, I can understand your time contraints Per.
Well if there is any room for a little tidbit about it after one of the project installments we have the man to do it here on the forum. Greg Perry has years of professional journalism experience writing for a newspaper that he owned and built from scratch. He can take some darn good pictures as well

Ah, I thought you could only use factory LSDs in STX. I thought you would be in SM, or a SP class with a different one.
Way to Go!!!! Glad to see you haven't forgotten the poor folks.
Be sure to reference a bunch of the low-dollar junk yard swaps and upgrades. And be sure to include stuff for NX2000's too. Stuff like how make your own seat mounts for those nice affordable eBay seats, how to replace the airbag steering wheel with a Momo - legally, etc.
I loved your junkyard upgrade series - love to see more (yes, I'm cheap!)

Okay, Matt, where do I send your check?
Per, great to have GRM working on a B13 SE-R. I also posted in the thread on the GRM board today as well, saying exactly the same thing.
We're here to help in any way we can. My SE-R was in your magazine back in November, 2002 and apparently David Wallens still has the Classic itch.
Let us know how we can help, in any way, shape or form.
Kudos on the car, Per. I know I'll be reading and watching with much interest. Excellent magazine, by the way... been reading it forever(well, at least the last 10 years, anyway).
I'd brown nose some more, but these guys on the forum can be brutal.
Peace,
Mark
P.S. Everyone knows the '91's were/are the best... good choice!

Yea, but he picked up the 92 Civic Si instead...I'm the one with the SE-R in the driveway. He's jealous :-)
I fixed my instrument lights last night, with the help of the search function on this board. $6 and some really scratched up forearms from putting the speedo cable back on.
We've "filled up" our April issue, so the SE-R intro is looking like it's going to be more towards the May issue or so.
