At the risk of sounding like a NOOB asshat, I have a couple of questions:

1) On average, how much extra oil capacity does this afford you? 1/2 a quart? 3/4 qts?

2) Given the lack of space in the stock location of the oil filter, how for the love of god, do you fit that filter adapter in there?

3) Does it have instructions for the dumber crowd (such as myself) ?

4) Where would you RECOMEND mounting said hardware on an NX2K that's looking to have a Koyo rad. and HS/JGY IC shoved into the front end?

Thankyou and please drive through

Do you have the different thread adapters to allow for both highport and lowport?

John

1. 1-1.5 extra quarts, the cooler alone holds about a quart.
2. It will be a tight fit, thats for sure.
3. No instructions, its quite easy, remove the oil filter, screw the sandwich plate in there, screw the filter on the plate, run the hoses to the cooler.
4. You've got some limited space, Maybe you can fit this cooler to the side in the wheel well behind the foglight. It might be a tough fit for you.

I really dont want to rain on your parade, but one thing you guys really need to consider is the pressure loss you will see with the oil cooler setup. Specifically the size of hose your using.

Our pumps put out a little less than 10 gpm (from what Ive been told) and you can see the pressure loss with this chart with 10 feet of distance using a given hose. Running -6an (which the top looks like) might be a bad thing in this case.

Can you guys do this with larger oil lines? Like -8 or -10 ?

PS: I got this from Ben Rockwell a while ago and just passing info on for you guys...

This chart also shows loss values typical of a SAE 40 single grade oil at 100F. A 10W40 at 200F would have losses about 25% lower. A 10W30 at 200F would have losses about 50% lower (half of what is shown)

The SR20 max oil flow rate is less than 10 gpm, but just to give you an idea of why I was suggesting -10 over -8; look at the pressure loss for the two sizes at 10 gpm
sorry bout the large pic here.

I was just about to post about this but P@t beat me to it...

THis has been the major reason for not fiddling with oil coolers ever since Steven went through his cooler escursion and documented it in this forum...

Well acording to the graph i would be at 1 psi or so at idle, no thanks. Lets see some more info from some roadracers on this subject. Also do you have to saw or chop the long neck on our oil filter housing to use this?

thanks,Jon

Oops read the graph wrong. That is a nice kit, do you have any problems fitting an oil filter on the end?

Thanks,Jon

does the sandwich plate have a thermal divertor? or does 100% of the flow go through the cooler all the time?

The oil always flows through the cooler.
