That means the actual load bearing surface of the OEM bushing is only 3/8" !
Add that to the tapered ends of the inside portion and you have quite a bit of slop. This slop allows the end of the trailing arm to move around quite a bit. I'd say that the OEM bushings would actually allow the rear end thrust angle to change during cornering.
I believe this is part of the "award winning design" of the rear axle. It is designed to move around. The question is - if we stop it from moving, what does that do to the handling? Especially for the cars who don't have a bent axle beam.

(got the urge to talk out my ass a little)
i believe the "watts linkage" is the "award winning design" part.

it seems to me the bushing end of the trailing arm serves as a kind of sway bar - in that with the gushy stock bushings, they are allowed to move somewhat independently when the beam twists. so, maybe with harder bushings, it would be like a stiffer swaybar.......... and not allow the beam to twist as much before transfering the motion side to side. (if that makes any sense).

here is a link to some discussion on the subject from the SE-R Race Series yahoo group
http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group...c%20Understeer

as far as putting harder bushings in a car that doesn't have the beam bent........ nismo offers a bushing kit to do just that, and they claim "Improved road feel and responsiveness"

Octotat, were you the one who measured my suspension for these at NOPI nissan nationals? Someone did and said that they were going to sell them. They also mentioned that they were getting them from Australia. Sounds kind of like these ones. They were also blue. ???
