Announcing the second forum group buy on Techtom MDM/CMX monitors!

I am happy to announce the second SR20DE Forum Group Buy on Techtom monitors for our Nissan cars. The first group buy in August of 2002 was so successful, and the demand still there, that I have arranged a second buy on these fantastic monitors.
For those of you not familiar with the Techtom MDM-100 and CMX-100N monitors, feel free to check out http://www.technosquareinc.com/techtom.htm website for detailed descriptions of both. Basically, these monitors enable you to see different parameters from your ECU as a tuning aid. Both plug into the Consult port located next to the fuse panel by the steering column. Short of a Nissan Consult diagnostic computer ($$$), the Techtom units are as good as it gets in terms of monitors made *specifically* for Nissans.
The Products
Techtom MDM-100N:
Long recognized as the most advanced monitor for Nissans, the MDM-100 allows you to watch two different parameters/sensors at the same time, and in real time.
Here's a pic:

Parameters the MDM-100N monitors include:
-Speed (mph or km/h)
-RPM
-MAF voltage
-Injector Duty Cycle in ms
-Ignition timing (at the ecu, not base)
-A/F adjustment ratio
-Water temperature
-Intake temp. for cars with that sensor
-Battery voltage
-Oxygen sensor voltage(s)
-Idle switch on/off
-Neutral switch on/off
-Power steering switch on/off
-AC switch on/off
-AAC-idle speed control

About as wide as a single DIN stereo panel, but only 2" thick. Plugs in via the Consult port, and install time is about 30 seconds. Applications: 1990+ 300ZX, 1990+ 240SX, 1991+ Sentra, 1995-96 Maxima.
Price:
The MDM-100 is $330 retail (plus shipping) if purchased individually from Technosquare, Inc.
For SR20DE Forum members, the Group Buy price is $299 shipped in the continental US. This price is only effective for 10 or more committed/paid orders, which I think we'll have no problem attaining.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Techtom CMX-100N:
This extremely small (about 1/2 the size of a credit card) monitor watches four important parameters, and has peak recall ability. In other words, you can make a run down the track, then hit the recall button and find the highest value for whatever parameter you had the CMX set to during the run. This alone is worth the price of admission, especially for turbo cars.
Here's a pic:

Parameters the CMX-100N monitors:
-Speed (in mph)
-Water temperature (from the sender)
-MAF voltage (great for turbo cars, to make sure you're not maxxing it out)
-Injector duty cycle (in %) (great for turbo cars to see how much injector you're actally using)

I have one of these in my turbo SE-R, and highly recommend it to anyone. Plugs in via the Consult port, and install time is about 30 seconds. Applications: Most '91+ Nissan with Consult port.
Price:
The CMX-100N is $140 retail (plus shipping) if purchased individually from Technosquare, Inc.
For SR20DE Forum members, the Group Buy price is $132 shipped in the continental US. This price is only effective for 10 or more committed/paid orders, which I think we'll have no problem attaining.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Techtom CMX-100N2:
New to the Techtom line this year, this unit is identical in size/shape to the CMX-100N, but is made for cars that have OBD-2. If your car is a '96-up model, this is the one for you.
Here's a pic:
[img][/img]
Parameters the CMX-100N2 monitors:
-Speed (in mph)
-Water temperature (from the sender)
-RPM
-Battery voltage

Plugs in via the OBD-2 port, and install time is about 30 seconds.
Price:
The CMX-100N2 is $165 retail (plus shipping) if purchased individually from Technosquare, Inc.
For SR20DE Forum members, the Group Buy price is $149 shipped in the continental US. This price is only effective for 10 or more committed/paid orders, and I have no clue if we'll reach that number or not.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Reply to this thread below only if you wish to commit to buying a Techtom unit. Remember...we need to buy 10 quantity of each model in order to get these prices, which I think we'll do easily.

About me and this Group Buy:
If you're new to the forum and aren't too sure about participating in this Group Buy because you don't know me, never fear. In addition to being an administrator here at the SR20DE Forum, I have also successfully ran another Group Buy for the very same Techtom units in 2002. Please feel free to do a search for my name (Greg Perry) in the Buyer/Seller Experiences forum and you will see nothing but positive feedback about me. I am not in this to make money, but rather, to get these great monitors in the hands of Nissan enthusiasts just like me, for the best price possible.
Feel free to PM or email me with questions: herdinsider@aol.com is the preferred email address.

Thanks much, and I look forward to your participation in this group buy! With the Yen gaining strength every day against the US dollar, these prices will not last long, so get one while you can.

I'm in.

Count me in for the MDM-100N. Would you like me to submit payment now, or wait? It would appear that you needed it by/before February 9th. If so, please post your paypal account and $307.97 will be in there shortly.

Thanks,

I just want to chime in here and say that these Techtom units are awesome. I have used mine for diagnostics and monitoring in many SR20 powered cars. It works really well. I would recommend this to anyone that likes to tune their vehicles as a safe way to monitor their engines. I was in on the first group deal and they came in really quick, and greg has a cool looking car if I say so myself, lol.

Greg,

Any chance you can include the AL-100 (Alarm unit for the MDM-100)? I think other Techtom owners might be interested in this unit as well.

For those unfamiliar with the AL-100, it adds a warning feature to the MDM-100 with an ultra bright LED and buzzer. It works with parameters such as rpm, speed, water temp or air voltage.

I added my PayPal account to the original post. Doh!

As for the alarm unit.... I'm not sure if we can get that. We'd need 10 orders to get any kind of price break, just like the other units.

Your best bet would be to buy it straight from Technosquare, IMHO.

Greg, will this work in the '94-'96 G20? Also, I have been looking into this unit for a few weeks now. I found these specs on the unit:

SPd Vehicle speed (km/h)
RPn Engine rpm (rpm)
IGt Ignition timing (deg) (*)
UtP Engine water temperature (DEGC)
ItP Inhalation air temperature (DEGC) (*)
Afr Air flow voltage (V) (*)
BAt Battery voltage (V)

According to the Japanese Techtom site, this unit actually provides 7 different values. Wouldn't this be the same unit we can buy here in the US?

I've been wondering the same thing. The CMX-100H(Honda) reads all that, but reads MAP, and shows codes. It plugs into the OBD2 port under the dash. I'm going to call Technosquare and get more details.

These things rock, I have used the big unit in my race car and loved it. Count me in for a CMX-100N.

WHY?

The CMX-100N2 is the newest version for the Nissan OBD2 and has the features we would want. I think you lost me.

The N2 does not have the same features as the Japanese model. It has:

Speed
RPM
Batt Voltage
Water Temp

The Honda has:
Speed (km/h)
Water Temp.(°C)
Engine RPM (X10 RPM)
MAP Sensor (mmHg)
Ignition Timing (deg)
Intake Air Temp.(°C)
Diagnostic Code

So by using the Honda, you gain timing, intake temp, and codes.

I just got a reply from Techtom in regards to my question. Here is the reply:

Quote:
Reply by Danny Lee, techtom
Ok, I just went and talked with our Techtom representative and he said that Ignition Timing, Intake Temp, and AFM are not available on all vehicle. That means that when the unit was tested in Japan, the unit would not display all functions. However, when we tested the unit here (in a 2003 350Z) all functions worked without problems. If your car is a 1996 G20, I don't think you will have a problem displaying all the information.

Danny.
So it could be a possible shot in the dark to what features we will have at our fingertips and what features we will not have. They seemed to have great success with the 350Z.

Does anyone know of any problems with running any of these units on a BB ECU? If not I'm in for a CMX-100N. Thanks.
