Custom In Dash Boost gauge

Requirements

91-94 B13

Company

IMP Concepts is a small business run by an English gentleman named Ian, who is a retired engineer. Ian makes high quality, custom in dash gauges. With a minimum of 20 people, he will engineer a custom boost (and possibly Air/Fuel gauge) for B13’s similar to these:

.

.

.

The Audi Gauge in action

Price

Approximately $160 to $180 via PayPal or Money Order, plus shipping. That’s for a completely assembled boost kit, installed in your cluster.

Terms

20 units minimum. I will handle all the money, and will forward the funds to Ian once we reach the minimum quantity. At that point we will start accepting tachometers for conversion. Tachometers will be modified in the order they are received, and will be returned at buyers’ expense, via the buyers’ choice of FedEx service.

Notes

I am sending Ian a cluster this week so he can evaluate it, and start the engineering process. Ian has done a great job for the VW, Audi, and Subaru crowd, and I’m sure he’ll do the same for us. Check some of these threads out, and you’ll get an idea of the kind of person we’re dealing with.
http://clubb5.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=38996&page=1
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...readid=322500&

Here’s a detailed write-up on how the gauges are constructed
http://members.cox.net/shokwave/audis4boostgauge.htm

If we get enough interest, Ian will look into designing a B14 solution.

Thanks to David Evans for originally finding the post on the Subaru board, and Matt Hunt, who I stole the formatting of this message from. He created it for his Whiteline brace deal, and it’s a great layout.

I saw this earlier today on audizine.com and from the title of this thread I thought of it, opened up the thread and whala, there it was. Except the one I saw was a little different from a different company. It's a great idea if you ask me

Was that the S4 O.CT Gauge? While this is a commercial unit. It is $399 and you have to install it yourself. There are also no color options, and it is in Bar Not PSI. My gauges are all custom made, You can have any combination of colors to suite your own personal taste. Any Boost Level up to 30 psi (0 - 20, 0 - 25 & 0 - 30). The sensors for 25psi and 30 are quite expensive though) I can answer any questions here if you like.

That is by far the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. I would definately be interested if you end up making them for b14's. How accurate are the sensors? I am a little partial to mechanical guages myself but if these are just as accurate and quick responding i dont see a problem with them.

Accuracy Huh? Is +/- 0.125 psi accurate enough for you?

I quote +/-0.250 to be on the safe side. And my gauges are 10 times faster than the average 'el Cheapo' analog gauge and of course "REAL TIME". Analog gauges unless electronic and expensive are an "average" estimate of pressure after the fact, as they are by design quite slow. The sensors I use are the ones used by the modern ECU to control fuel mixture etc, so they have to be pretty accurate.

All that said, accuracy for general driving purposes is quite relative.

I'm interested. Would you be willing to make some for the P10 Primeras? If I can round up some people. I drive a P10, but i'm sure there are some P11 people that would be interested in them.

I would need access to a cluster to be sure. I am getting one From ChrisCar but am not sure of the flavour of it.

I'm sending Ian a 91/92 cluster. Anyone else who wants to offer up a 93/94, B14, P10, or P11 cluster, speak up.

im definately interested and i have my own suggestions.

first i would prefer if the boost gauge could show vacuum also.

second, i say screw the air/fuel ratio meter and install a EGT gauge instead, A LOT more useful.

if you can get the gauge cluster to come with a boost/vacuum gauge, egt, and injector duty cycle gauge, then im definately down.

One Problem

Our cars don't have a pressure sensor. Honda's do it's called a Map sensor.
but nissan's use a MAF
So unless you provide a pressure sensor then it's not going to work because our cars ECU's doesn't get a pressure reading.

Not a problem. For cars that need it, he provides the sensor.
