About 75K and no VLSD. It can be converted using a nismo diff to be better then a VSLD tranny.

LSDs cannot be swapped into a non lsd trans on our cars, except phantom grip, and we all know how long those last. I have a 98 SE and I have done all the research on trying to do that. no dice.

Re: 98 SE-R Transmission

besides reviving an old thread, you're wrong. There are two different differentials, most people don't know about the one for vehicles w/out LSD. one ends in 45 and one ends in 40. I think the 40 one is for w/out LSD.

I read that the '98 SE-R trannys are different. The non-LSD Nismo unit won't go in, its only for 97-below. Lots of things changed in '98, a lot of it for the worse (emissions, no LSD, lower power, etc). But hey the gauges came white, bumper covers look good and the '98 tranny is supposed to be stronger than the previous ones. No comment on the taillights but I love my 98.

Re: 98 SE-R Transmission

El Gabito is right.

do a search for "lsd" but only for the sentra se section and search for titles only not all posts, and there you go.

I wish I could justy buy a nismo lsd, but buying a used 97 trans and drivers axle is about $200 less than buying the nismo lsd (550 vs 750). Plus since it is my daily driver, I can't afford to take a week to tear a trans out, apart, put back together, and reinstall, and if I am tearing the whole thing apart, I might as well coat the trans case with that liquid scatter shield stuff and put in a par gear set. that would be a good idea to do with my 98 while it lies around...

Re: 98 SE-R Transmission

correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know, the only non lsd trans from 95-97 was the autos and the ga16 manual trans, and the nismo lsd for non lsd trans are for manual trans.

Re: 98 SE-R Transmission

This piece was posted for sale 1.5 years ago when I needed to get it out of my garage. I no longer need to do that so it is no longer for sale at that low price. $250 is a super low price. Not interested in selling it for that any more. $450 or better from here on out. You pay shipping. Otherwise I keep it as my spare.
