Thanx all.

Thanx for the comments. Always good to get extra opinions.

I'll be honest, bought it in early 98 w/ @60K miles, have just maintained it well and driven the snot out of it. That explains the stock height. It looks worse than it is cause i'm runnin summer RE-71s in 195/55-14 (stock NX size). Now @120K miles it may be due for, oh, shocks maybe =P, i may consider a SLIGHT drop. On the other hand i do use it for commuting here in Chi-town and a little ground clear is not a bad thing. Esp in winter. Thats when the snow tires go on (they're on the stock rims). Not to mention wheel eatin (hell CAR eatin) potholes. Another reason not to run ulra low profile.
Oh yeah thanks to the mailin list i HAVE set the timin to @18 and run home brew midgrade (2 gal premium and the rest regular, easy if pay @ pump). My knickname on a bimmer board is 'frugal Pablo'.=P

Good eye on the exhaust, its actually a CAR-X downgrade. I know the shop a little better; the manager is actually cool, will let me bring in my own parts and often cuts me slack on labor. I will prolly slap on a better exhaust next spring (i hate doin exhaust werk). Intake for sure. Maybe cams. Some day when the engine will be too far gone i may DET.

Funny thing is had the starter squeal since i bought it. STILL always fires on the first try. =D

I'm runnin a set of previous generation Michelin Artic Alpins. They do make a difference, even w/ some wear they seem better than fresh all-seasons. Got to do a comparison w/ my sisters car; a 94 classic =D (used to be moms, bought it new on my recommendation).
For anyone livin north of the snow line that likes to go low profile/sport most of the time, i highly recommend. They are only rated up to 100mph (T/S/Q i ferget) but they are not yer fathers snow tires. Any modern snow w/ a sporting bias will do the trick. Actually the TireRack has an awesome comparison feature using their test and survey results that will give you a great idea of what you will get in terms of performance between different tires. No purchase necessary, just hit the website.
Actually just got some Pirelli Assymetrico snow sport tires (H rated 130mph) for das bimmer and i am impressed. On that car it is critical, i run 235/45/-17 summers (225/60-15 stock) which would make that car impossible in anything below freezing. =P
