ATTN: Fast91SE-R, SE-Rican... Pics inside!

As promised, FINALLY, pictures of my amazing super-duper ABS trunk floor.

I know the pics aren't that great but hopefully you'll get the idea. It's basically a big rectangle (almost but not quite square) that goes from the front to the back of the trunk, and is as wide as it can be and still fit between the strut towers.

That is gen-u-ine ABS plastic. A friend got it for me from where he works, I don't even know where it might be available retail.

At some point, I forget the title of the post, Serban asked me if I thought Plexiglas would work, and I don't see why not; just make sure it's thick enough (1/4-3/8") to support whatever you might have back there. They are also making sheets of PVC now (the pipe stuff, ya know) in varying thicknesses, although again I'm not sure where to get it. Home Depot or Lowe's might have it, or at least know where to get it. Call before going...

Smooth, my man, I had forgotten that you were in on this subject as well. Please don't put a hit out on me. I guess you can keep your trunk the way it is; as for me, I need to put stuff back there. I don't think my saxes would like sliding around on the bare metal, considering that they're relatively fragile and are worth more than the car.

How About The Carpeting

I want to do something like that with my trunk floor!

Where do you think I can get the carpeting from?

For the floor piece, I am looking for a material that is light and affordable... I am looking probably getting a thin sheet of wood or some plastic-type stuff... Suggestions?

Ummm...

ABS
PVC
Plexiglas

These are all lightweight. As for price you will just have to go to the hardware and find out. The piece I had was 40" by 40" before cutting (only cut 2-3" from each dimension, can't remember exact measurements).

Don't go with wood - most of these guys are trying to switch because the OEM particle board (basically wood) got wet and rotted. Mine just sagged and I got sick of it.

BTW, the pics up there are without the carpet; I just use the factory carpet over it. I imagine you could cut any carpet to fit, just don't get something with a deep pile . AND make sure you pad it - most carpet has an underside that looks like burlap; it keeps it from sliding too much on a wood floor, but it will scratch the hell out of the paint on the trunk floor. IF you look at the underside of the factory carpet it's nice and soft.

Hope this helps.
