New daily-driver 240 convertible...with TURBO!

Hey, gang--

Just returned home from a loooong day. Today, I purchased a new daily-driver/toy...a 1993 240sx convertible. Met the owner (from Michigan) in Upper Sandusky, Ohio and brought her home (about 210 miles).

Here's some pics. It needs a good bath, so don't be too harsh.

The 'vert and Jennifer's '03 Maxima at a rest stop just outside of Columbus, Ohio. We drove over 400 miles today, with baby Julia in tow, at an average of 54mph (back two and four-lane roads).

The KA24DE with a Boost Designs ( www.boostdesigns.com ) turbo kit. It features a stainless manifold, an interesting T3 turbo, JRC FMIC, and a open-air BOV. Fuel management is *only* a FMU, and that thing will be the first to go. Along with the BOV.

These will be the first two items I deal with. The FMU is scary fuel management (IMHO), and the BOV needs to be recirc'd. I have two BOVs here that can do the job, a TurboXS and a Greddy Typer RS (due in this week). For fuel management, I plan on getting a programmed ECU (possibly from my buddy Calum), a fuel rail from Pat @ Custom Steel, bigger injectors and a MAF that can flow a little more air (it has the stocker on it, now).

In all...the car is pretty solid. It has 107,000 miles on it, a 5-speed swap (with a stout clutch), rust-free body from Florida, and a nice 3" exhaust that features a Calsonic catalytic converter. First one of those I've seen.

More pics to come once I clean it up later this week. Oh, and it appears I need a new starter...as I get three red lights on the dash (e-brake, oil pressure and check engine) and the car won't turn over. Had to push start it in Upper Sandusky, Ohio and kept it running the entire trip home.

More pics to come, guys/gals. I like my new toy, and so does Julia.

Damn....Lionel Stackhouse comes back to the forum in MY thread. Sweeet!

James....you ain't kidding. First photo to shoot is the FIVE Nissans in my driveway tomorrow afternoon:

-90 240 coupe
-91 NX2000
-93 240 convertible
-93 turbo SE-R
-03 Maxima

EDIT: Stratton, it pulls *okay*. I really think with proper fuel management, the BOV recirc'd, etc. it will be a very sweet combination. I'll take it to the dragstrip, that's for sure, and find out just what I've got on my hands here.

You are absolutely right, Blair. I used to hate the KA motors, but hey have grown on me ALOT! They handle low boost very well and make gobs of power.

Relax, guys. Group hug.

This particular KA24DE turbo setup isn't all that great, but it is solid and has the potential to make very good power (<300whp). Right now, I'd guess it's a mid to low 14 second car, at best.

That will change with some very minor adjustments.

After that, it will be mainly cosmetic issues I focus on. I want this car to be pretty.

Car looks nice Greg. You should really enjoy that car. That boost machine should tide you over till the other one is up and running again.

Very nice man. I would have loved to see your car on the way back down from Sandusky. I live just south of columbus...maybe next time! Nice 240, I had a 95, and to this day it was the best car I have ever owned; I wish I could shoot myself in the foot for selling it.
