My Classic!

Here is my classic! Very excited about it, all the "hype" about these cars are true, i've had many cars, but none beats the feel of this classic. The tranny has no 5th gear, and engine was not taken care of like the exterior so a motor and tranny swap will be comming soon. Any advice would be well recivied and hope to be posting more to this great website! This site was one of the reasons i got the SE-R, Thanks!!!!!

That car is clean as hell. With the body looking so sweet, the engine/tranny is not a huge issue. Both are readily available. Hell, you might want to consider upgrading to a VE or a B15/P11 tranny while you're at it.

Did you get a good price considering the mechanical issues?

BTW you can drive it with four gears no problems. Just sucks on the freeway.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum! Always nice to see a classic in such nice shape. If you own an SE-R or NX, this forum is definitely the place to be. I saved myself so much time, money and aggravation by simply tapping into the great resource of previous threads...and current ones too. There's pretty much nothing that hasn't been talked about and discovered at this point. The biggest tip I can tell you is get good at using the search function. It saves so much time not having to look stuff up in a book or posting a new thread and waiting for answers. We also have some really amazing engineers in our ranks that have taken our cars to levels far beyond what the creators at Nissan had invisioned.

Replacement motors and trannies are easily had. Like Shawn mentioned, a VE motor works nicely without too many install headaches. Turbos, of course, and there's even a B13 VQ swap in the works. If you have the money, I think Unlucky is looking for a guniea pig car. Can you say instant 12 sec car that purrs like a kitten and can easily be used for daily driving? Not cheap, though. If you just want to keep it stock, I think I saw, recently, motors in the $325 range. Yep, here ya go. http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread....highlight=soko

$1500 for the car, 4 gears works just fine, not complaining, but on a highway 5 is nice. Have looked at all my swap options and have some money, but i'm trying to do my research before I just jump into anything. As of now i'm thinking just a new DE and tranny (although i hear the 01 G20 Tranny comes with LSD. And build from there. Like I said, any suggestions are welcome, and i'm sure i'll post some questions in a more appropiate fourm, and off couse after i use the search!..

Good to hear that you're going to search. The paint on that car looks increadable, and the car is very clean!

Also, the tranny you have now already has LSD, so no need for a G20 tranny. If you go DE, you'll still be happy, and you can make quite a bit more power just with bolt-ons, and maybe even bigger cams.

Wow man, if only my car looked that clean. My paint's peeling all over the place, and I have a few dings, dents and scuffs. Nothing too major though. I'm also looking to eventually better motor and stronger tranny into my classic. I gotta wait though as funds are non existent.

Good luck with your new ride man, and of course, welcome to the forum.
