Redid the dash (big pictures)

Well I was really bored and I saw this

and I wondered what it would look like on a B13 dash. Well two hours and some suede I got this

I need to roll some of the edges and seal some other things. It's not nearly as clean as the 240 but it was my first time doing this kind of work and I was pretty impressed with myself. I will be installing it the same time I do my nx1600 digital dash swap

i think it looks badass.. especially whenyou have a suede steering wheel like a sparco, and seats like black recaro's. i think though y9ou should have gone with a black suede... it will eventually look gray , like when you rub your hand over it. and in time it will fade to its true color. but i think it looks dope. gives me ideas about my cracking dash. did you use an adhesive spray??? and a heat gun or steamer for the corners???

damn it. I go and do something now Lance is going to do it like 5 times better j/k. I just used a spray adhesive. That is black suede, I think the lighting in that part of the house is bad or something. I'll take new pictures when I put it in the car after the paint job. Hopefully soon I will get a suede steering wheel. I have p11 seats in my egg so I'm fine there. The trick is to pull the sh*t out of it so no bubbles, pat it down, watch the corners.

OneSlow1.6- I hope the sun won't do too much too fast. But we will see.

thats not my 240. The car belongs to the brother of a guy known as Pacman on various Honda forums. That car made like 800+whp on a built KA. I just took the idea of a suede dash.

did you just put the suede right over your dash or did you remove anything? The cracks in my dash are so bad couldnt just lay material over top of it...

Damn looks like you beat me to it. I've been thinking about doing this about a year now But I will be covering the A/C vents entirely. The Material you really wanna use is Alcantara which is the material used on seats (Bride, Sparco, Etc) and Steering Wheels. Alcantara is a synthetic material that does wear as fast, is soft like suede leather and is water resistant. Its mostly used on High End Boats and other Marine Vehicles. The Dash looks real nice nevertheless. Looks like you did a real nice job!

Looks great! Funny, I had this idea about 2 years ago, because I got sick of swapping dashes every other month.

I even asked Rob's dad, who does uphostalry (sp?) for a living, about it. He told me that its not that difficult to do and would look great, but over time the fabric will start to seperate from the glue and start to bubble, then the whole thing would have to be redone again. Not to mention discoloration from the heat and wear and tear of the fabric. That kind of discouraged me from going through with the whole thing.

thanks guys. Probably next week I'll have the pictures of it installed. I just put the suede right over. That dash didn't have cracks so I lucked out. If you do some kind of foam filling into the cracks and then put the suede ontop it would probably work.

When it fades out I'll probably get the stuff that Allen was talking about.
