Getting ready for the convention

Thanks to Stratton who got me motivated to do some prep work before the convention, I decided I would play around with my spare VC. I'm letting it cure for 48 hours, so its not installed yet, but here is some pics I got going.

I just sanded it down, used some high temp gray primer, then did two coats of high temp gold, taped off the letters, and did 3 coats of high temp flat black(to match my wheels, cusco bar, and oil reservoir tank). I'm going to wet sand it tomorrow right before I install everything to make it real smooth, but I think it looks real good, the gold doesnt look too gaudy at all.

Once the wind cuts out, I got to sand my tails down and respray them with a ruby red clear coat to make them all red, the old clear coat is starting to run thin.

sanding it should put it where it should be. After that it will look smooth. Good luck.

looks real good, i like the spark plug cover. how hard was it to tape off the letters and have them look good? because i am painting mine this weekend i and wanted to find out if its easier to sand them after or tape them off... i'm leaning towards taping them.

It took me about 25 minutes to tape off everything. A roll of painters tape and a razor blade. Time consuming and tedious, but it is what needed to be done.
