And today, so far I did a little scrubbing and cleaning on the block... not to much, but enough to get all the caked on oil/grim off.

Tonight I'll be replacing rod bearings then starting to button up the bottom end.

More progress...

All loose and ready to go...

And 15 minutes later she's out! If I had removed the shifter the pull would have been alittle faster I'm sure.

Something fell off as we were pulling the motor

Me gots alittle bit of cleaning to do I think.

What I thought was a rear seal leaking on the tranny was actually a leak from the shift boot... weird.

Guess I won't worry about it then. The other tranny I have laying around has that boot on it, I might just swap them and see if it's not as bad.

It's not to bad, usually just one or two drops in the garage after the car's been sitting for a while.

Oh sorry; I'm not saying its that bad. Its just that leaks drive me crazy in general.

Do you think it leaks more when you are on the track?

Work that's happened over the past several days...

Used the S14 oil pickup for it's newer design over the S13 DET.

I still have a little more degreasing to do on the bottom end, just haven't gotten out to buy more carb cleaner yet.

Modified the stock water lines... lucky my friend had a cool little tool for flanging the pipe.

The cool tool...

As the motor sits right now. JGS mounts installed.

The hardlines and hoses on the DE seemed to be in alot better condition that the DET, so I swapped everything over.

I cleaned up the DE valve cover, the underside is not coated in black sludge, so I'll reuse this one for now.

Only 1/2 the mount is aluminum, the rest is a hard urethane rubber.

JGStools has the hard urethane mounts for $120 and the softer rubber (street cars) for around $100 IIRC.

The one mod that needed to happen for this to work, drilled a hole large enough for the tab to fit in.

Reused the hardware from the rear seatbelts on the 240. I'll add the B-pillar plastic piece once I have a harness bar built and the seats figured out.

The lower mount for the belt goes right where part of the auto lap belt was previously located. I did cut the carpet so the belt can go through.

And what it looks like installed... much better if you ask me . Of course the car does still look alittle bare

There is a 7lbs weight difference between the B14 belt and the S13 auto belt... so chalk another 14lbs off the car

question time:

som im going to try to install a NX seat belt today in the coupe, and you said you needed to drill a larger hole for the "tab"? what tab are you talking about?

Look at my first picture again, you'll see a tab on the top bracket on the belt spool... I guess you could just cut the tab off, I decided to drill an extra hole for it.

also, when you did the 300zx brake upgrade, do the calipers bolt up? or do you have to use different spindles? if no, did you press in the 5 lub hubs?

also, do you know if you can press in the s14 5 lug hubs and run the s14 5 lub rotors with the stock s13 calipers?

just a thought i had lol

i want to do 5 lug for better wheel selection

Got alittle more done the last few days... Since the JDM mother-in-law is here and settled in I can get back to the garage a bit more now .

The automatic pilot bearing was a pain, but did come out once I used some brute force. Found that a 14mm deep socket is a somewhat tight fit for the ID of the bushing and using a 5lb sledge to basically walk the bearing out was easier than I thought.

The best way I could find to torque the flywheel bolts without a helper... gotta love the craftsman prybar!

The tranny slid back on with ease... once I got the motor off the ground by 1/4" at least. It just two stabs and it slid all the way up to the motor, and this was with no helpers.

I got bored waiting for my friend to show up, so I thought I'd see how far I could get...

Still waiting for my friend to show up...

Decided to wrap my short SS line for the oil pressure sensor with some fiberglass sleeving before I forgot.

Still waiting for my friend to show up...

Getting the motor onto the mounts was so quick and easy, I knew something had to be wrong. Oh, I did have my helper for the final drop, no way that was happening by myself. As I thought, we realised that the JGS motor mounts we're marked wrong and we had to lift the motor back up to rotate the mounts 180 degrees, thought something was wrong when we saw the oil pan nestled tightly into the crossmember!!! Oh well, it's all in now and I can start reattaching sensors tomorrow night.

Monty can you snap a couple pics of your heater hoses for me? Also, do you know where your friend purchased the flaring tool?
