Almost identical to the setup I just installed I made some ducting for it and it made a huge difference! I bought my cooler used as well to save $$$.
Yep, the same that several of my friends on NRR are running and they have no issues at all. My friend installed his setup (same cooler) quickly before our ORP track day, the cooler is sitting sideways (no real air flow) to the inlet due to lack or room, and he still kept oil temps under 220F on track.

I might have to get these if the issue reappears. I actually have mechanically locking nuts on two of the studs, and regular nuts on the other 2 studs, you can guess which one backed off . I'll probably be fine if I replace the two regular nuts with the mechanically locking nuts soon.

There are also a bunch of places that sell copper plated locking nuts that have eliminated all my issues with nuts and bolts backing off. and the good thing about those as well is that the head is alot smaller in size than a typical bolt. My copper nuts have a 12mm head instead of the standard 13mm or 1/2in. size. FRsport.com sells them for pretty cheap compared to ATP since they dont charge 14 bucks for shipping and handling.
See, I have the smaller 12mm head (will double check tonight though) locking nuts I got from McMaster and due to how tight the WG sits to the motor, there was zero chance of me tightening the nut. To even get the allen bolts tightened, I use a mini rachet with a 6mm allen insert in it and I can just barely get one click at a time tightening it. The outside one is not an issue and maybe that's the way I'll go, but that damn inside one is a bear
As for the stainless allen bolts, I'll double check the source again, but I might be stuck with them, unless I can find a way to tighten a nut in a place I can get a wrench or ratchet

I'm still not certain why I didn't wrap the damn log manifold before installing it. I picked up 1" x 50' of exhaust wrap, this should help keep everything within 4-6" from melting.
Not to bad once I got everything out of the way... and no comments on the wrap job, this is my first time doing a log. I did soak the wrap first to help keep it tight as I wrapped it. I was able to add a jet nut to the back side of the allen bolt holding the WG/manifold. The other side I ran a longer allen nut and hit the threads on the top side... it'll take an act of god to get that one to come out!
Also adding some bling... gold foil bling . I need to add an under tray to the MC heat shield I have and will also wrap this with the gold foil too.
More to come later... and once I'm done on this side I get to add the oil cooler on the other side
For the oil cooler, I'll mount it behind the passanger side vent of the front bumper and run the shortest amount of line possible. What's sitting on the garage floor right now... and a very simple setup it is.
For a parts breakdown...
From 240sxmotoring
Greddy sandwich plate 3/4-16 (w/built in 180F T-stat) $95
From Summit
B&M cooler with 1/2NPT inlet/outlets (11x5.75x1.5) $63
1/2NPT to -10AN fittings (x2) $9.50
Summit 10AN twist-tite fittings, $42 (2 straights and 2 90's)
10' Summit 10AN twist-tite hose $35
Hmm, that's not too bad. i may have to look into a similar setup.

Was asked to instruct for the PNWR PCA (Northwest Porsche Club) at Pacific Raceway in Kent, WA this past week (Aug 18th) and decided to take the invitation. I've been wanting to do more instructing now that my back is in good shape and my car seems to be reliable enough to make the 5 hour drive to the Seattle area. The last time I was at PR was in 2004 or 5, so getting back to drive the track again was another motivation.
As for how it went... good, I started out with just a novice driver in a 95 Maxima and before the day started ended up with a C student (3 track days) in a 92 RX-7 also. With 4 run groups and two students running every other run group I ended up with about 5 15 minute sessions running in the various groups.
My novice driver picked up the lines, but was still nervous at times... and by the end of the day we ended up going 4 wheels off while overshooting the braking zone at the end of the straight. He did the right thing though, knew he couldn't make it and pointed the car straight, after that his lines got a lot better .
My intermediate driver just needed help at a few spots and after that he was killing his group. I signed him off after lunch and he was on his own. I drove his car for 3 laps and I have to say that car is well balanced and goes where you tell it to go, throw an SR20DET in that car and It would be a perfect
The funny part is that the truck with an enclosed trailer that parked next to me was carrying a new GTR on hoosiers . He blew my doors off a few times out there and I enjoyed every moment of it! I just wish I had met him on track after I was warmed up, everytime I saw him out there it was on my warmup lap.
-------------------
As for the car, ZERO issues... so nice not having to jack up the car between sessions and wrench on it . Boost was at about 12psi and with it being a cool day (70's) and lots of traffic the oil temps never got much above 240F and water only peaked 195-197 a few times.
-------------------
Video's... remember this is only my 2nd trip to PR ever, the first time being 4-5 years ago!
Testing out the new rollbar mount for the gopro, I think I'll find a way to mount it 4-5 inches higher and probably 4 inches closer to get a better field of view out the window.
Glad to hear the car had zero issues! Track days are that much more enjoyable when you are not wrenching! Video's are cool as well!
About the Go Pro camera. Is that the HD version? I have always thought they took good video but the microphone seems to be lacking.... Your thoughts about it so far?
Yep, not sure why it is, but I leave feeling better when I don't have to fix something on the car during a track day
The GoPro is the HD version, Eric. How I have it currently setup it's in the waterproof case, so sound is muffled a fair bit, but not as bad as the original gopro sounded.
The nice part about the new HD version is they send it with a different rear cover that is open to allow for better sound... I keep forgetting to change that over .
The instructions say for driving under 100mph, the non-water proof back should be used. For any driving over 100mph, the waterproof case should be used to cut back on the wind noise. I guess this is a reminder to swap it out I guess.
As for upcoming events, planning on a two day event on Sept 3rd & 4th at Spokane Raceway Park, Friday will be the typical open lapping day, no sessions and Saturday is a Porsche club sponsored day... expecting lots of track time.
Will attempt to instruct again on Sept 30th at PR in Kent, WA... really depends on the work load.
And finally wrap up the year with a 3 day event at SRP, Oct 22-24, a combination advanced track day on Friday and a two-day driving school that I'll instruct at. Should be a good way to finish up all of my used rotors/track pads I have laying around
That reminds me... I need to get busy and install an oil cooler and profec B!!!

Be sure and document the oil cooler install! Sounds like a nice way to round out the year!
I have been running with NASA the last two months and having a lot of fun. Last event I did my check ride to HPDE 4 (open passing corners and all) and will run TT next month if all goes right. I know there are not a lot of people on the forum that track their cars and I cannot for the life of me understand why.....
Tried to do a Friday/Saturday track day combo... came in after my 3rd session on Friday and my rear diff was about on fire! Looks like one of my rear side bearings (carrier bearings) is on the way out. Limped the car home on Saturday and it wasn't sounding to happy... whistling/howling/grinding now and mostly from the passanger side. Must be all the left turns I make at SRP, ORP, and PR!!!! I rode shotgun with Bob all day Saturday in his Z06 and let him use the gopro. Once the day was done, I jumped in my car and dragged my tail home.
Me on track, turned the boost up to 15psi and had fun. oil still hitting about 270+ in about 8 minutes on track and after a cool down lap my oil pressures at about 9psi at 1200rpm .
As for lap times, I pulled several 1:44 laps before things started going wrong. Bob hit about 3 laps in the 1:42 range on the V710's and then was at a solid 1:47 on the street tires. I know where his extra 2 seconds is coming from, he runs the front straight all the way out to 155, where I stop typically at 140 and hold the speed till my braking zone.
Trying to get the car up in the air tonight to diagnose the failure, need to hurry because the 3-day event is coming up in October and I gotta drive 5 hours to it... mental note to self, can't break the car this time!
As for other little issues. The jet nut holding my WG to the manifold was starting to back off, so I need to order up some Belleville washers to help that. The bracket holding my down pipe to the tranny busted... nice. PS fluid still leaking from a few spots... not going to worry about it for now. Tires are almost gone... must decide if I run out the RA-1's or switch to the R6's, decisions decisions!
Thanks... rear end is gone. drained the fluids and it was full of finite metal floating on top of the oil. Nothing obvious, but I'm sure the pinion bearing is shot.
Picking up a GTR diff with the OEM Nismo 1.5-way LSD and a fairly new Nismo 4.6 gear set. This will drop my top speed by a fair bit, but I'll be making up for it by moving the RPM's up in the turns. Should be interesting...
4.6! holy smokes that's going to be some super close gears lol. One of the skylines I think R32 and R33 auto have a 4.44 ratio on the diff.
The R32 came with a 4.36 ratio and that is the direction I was heading until this one landed in my lap. with a taller tire out back this shorter ratio should work out... I hope!
One final post on this one. Car is getting parted out, going to sell off the car as a mostly street car with an SR20DET and a 1/2 cage.
Moving onto a car with 4 doors, AWD, and a turbo. Still have a thirst for track days, but can't justify it for the 4-5 days I get in a year these days.
