No real major updates, have been working on an idle issue lately, hopefully I can track down the problem tonight
I did score two sets of tires from friends just recently. both are Evo 8 owners that never rotated there tires and have had alignment issues... both decided to replace them with newer tires, there loss is my gain . I figure with the shaved RE-01R's along with these two sets, I should be set for the next two years for tires. With the cost savings in tires, I guess I can budget in a few extra track days this year
The Evo 8's came with 235/45/17 Yoko Advan AO46R's and have a treadwear of about 140 IIRC. I know that another good friend that tracks his Evo prefers the Advans over the azenis, mainly due to the fact that the azenis get greasy faster than he likes.
here is the worse set... with as bad as our local track is for tire wear, I should have these evenly worn within 2-3 track days . Not sure what I'm paying for these yet, probably between free and $40 for the set.
The rears both look like this...
The fronts like this one...
The other set that I'm getting look 90% better than these, the front insides are getting close to the wear bars, the rest of the tread is around 95%... I'll be paying $80 for these as soon as he dismounts them next week

Typical bad stock alignment on the Evo eats the inside edge. I autoxed mine enough that they pretty much wore evenly. On a big heavy car like the Evo these are probably better for track days then the azenis, much better heat resistence.
He should have shaved them I think the 615's work better as track tires on lighter cars, but there are better options out there (but they are more expensive).
I went down to the scales today to get an initial weight before I start any major weight reduction. 2690lbs, minus the driver.
This was with 5/8 tank of gas, full interior, AC, spare tire and jack, and a baby seat . I'm thinking that this will weigh close to the same as the sentra once I'm done with the weight reduction .
The 2nd set of advan (evo8) tires got picked up today... these are in pretty good shape and a steal at $80 for the set
That is a smokin deal Monty, guy just gave them to you.
Why yes... yes he did
It's been a good week so far... I am getting a RWD 5 speed tranny for $40 and a bunch of misc SR parts that I was needing for free from a local guy that is trying to clean out the garage. If I feel real frisky, I might have a redtop SR20DET in my garage also depending on the price
I've got this Friday off and the weather is looking good. Maybe I'll have my first dry track day with the 240
Additional parts starting to pile up in the garage.
RWD T25 setup with a SMIC to go on shortly... this is a temp boost fix until I sort out the rest of the car and save up for a 2871R
Ebay piping kit... for the winter or spring project. This piping will be teamed up with a PWR core that I got off the forum just recently. I was shocked how light this piping is, feels like 2-3 lbs. I will replace that short 90 degree bend with something down the road. Best part all this only cost $110 shipped and those couplers are 3-ply shockingly enough.
Ebay DP and resonated test pipe... for $100 shipped the qty is not bad at all.
McCoy - if it's not too much trouble, once you get the turbo/downpipe/resonator on the car, could you take some pictures from underneath the car to show the clearance between the downpipe/resonator to the ground?
My Greddy MX downpipe hangs down a bit below the frame rails, and is primarily what I hit...

Was planning on it... if anything I'll be cutting out a chunk of the DP to get it to tuck better

The ebay add did say "inspired by the greddy downpipe"... I wouldn't hold your breath
Kent - not to far off, I have a few misc things to order in the next few weeks and get my JWT ECU reflashed. Probably plan on a early July install, my babysitter is taking a long vacation and that means me and the wife are splitting our days to stay home with the son till July 1st.
Most of the downpipes available pretty much follow the same path and hang a bit below the frame rail. The only one I'm aware of that's designed to tuck under better is from Circuit Sports (I think) and available at Phase2.
Monty, have fun! Even with a little turbo I think these cars are a real hoot.

Well, my "customized" Greddy DP is sort of like the Circuit Sport one now lol
Drove over a few speed bumps not realizing their height, came home to find out my DP was actually flattened out some
Needless to say, I will be going back soon for more "work" done on it, as a regular hammer on the downpipe yielded loud noises, ringing ears, and no results.
And for the price/performance value... I think they'll do just fine on the 240 .
Yeah, Bob in his Evo hates the RT-615's. He's now on 275/40/17 MX's and likes them a bit more, but do chunk more than the 615's once hot
Sweet deal on those tires. I'm surprised your buddy liked the MX's better than the RT615's. I've tried both (in 205 50 15, and on a sentra) and I found that the
Azenis turned in MUCH better than the Kumho's. The kumho's are great tires and I liked them a lot, but I can't think of anything I liked better about them vs. the falken's. They were equally good in most aspects though. Oh well, to each his own.
Can't wait to see how the rest of the project goes.

The azenis tend to get to hot on an Evo when using them on track, past the point of sticking and just get really greasy. Different cars like different tires, Evo guys would not use an MX as it is too soft of a sidewall for track duty.
