Decided to add the longer ARP wheel studs to the front today.

With the open lugs, it sure looks like my studs are to short... even though I'm not using any spacers

A stock stud -vs- ARP stud. To remove the oem studs, I threaded back on the open lugs and used a BFH to knock them out... pretty straight forward.

How I pulled the ARP studs onto the hub. I used a 1/2" rachet and the appropriate deep socket to pull them in as far as I could by hand, then used a impact to back the lug off.

And the finished product... looks much better IMHO

Nice project. I browsed back a couple pages and didn't see you mention the brand of gauges that you used. I really like the look of them, and lack of bling. Seeing nice projects like this helps drive me to work on my car. Good job

Thanks... are you in a 240 now

The gauges are made by ISSPRO, a company in Portland that started making gauges for boats and moved over to the automotive market. They have what I want, a full 270 degree sweep, electronic, and match the factory gauges for appearance. The pricing is somewhere between Autometer and Greddy, another bonus .

The manual belt for the passanger side was done on Saturday. I also took the time to reinstall most of the interior since I'm not caging the car anytime soon. The B-pilliar piece I wanted to add, but the bolt/spacer setup for the belt mount is not long enough so until I find a longer bolt assembly or another way of doing this I'll leave that trim piece off for now.

Nope, Steve added those sometime back. With just the stock deck powering the component set, they still sound good.

No, I have a 1990 Mustang LX that I'm currently playing with. I need some gauges to keep an eye on things for when I start dumping mass amounts of go-go juice into her though. The car was originally a 4 cylinder so the OEM temp gauge doesn't work. It has some cheapo autogauge thing in it now, and I want a nice clean look.

Do they have regular light bulbs, or LED's?

As for the inspiration part. I have zero brand loyalty, and seeing someone painstakingly work on an automotive project always helps keep me focused. You are definitely doing a magnificent job on yours

It's all coming back to me now... I remember

Two lights per gauge... much much better than autometer, but not as nice as a Greddy unit. You can get the little colored condoms to have whatever color you want.

here is a really crappy picture (they do look better in person) from when these were in my Sentra... notice the needle is lit also. Just for reference the middle gauge is a autometer boost gauge and is lit also, it's that much of a difference.

I know... I'm not that loyal myself. What I've stuck to though is my knowledge of the SR20 motor. I probably wouldn't have gotten a 240, if it wouldn't have been for Steve offering this car at the price he did. The amount of work that he put into the car is probably equal to what I have done since getting the car.

I've had a few other cars that I've wanted to play with, maybe someday down the road when I have a bigger garage

Guess I should tie in all my little updates to this thread...

___________________________________________
Late September, I made a little weekend trip to Portland (7 hours driving) to visit Richards (Veilside180sx's) garage for some quality time with the 240. We made some custom brackets for the Evo L seats that would give me the most head room possible... click here for details.

Evo L seats installed.

__________________________________________________ _______
October, I installed a new cat-back exhaust setup, the Apexi JDM hybrid megaphone exhaust. It goes from 3" to 3.5" on the piping so it's not so restritive and with the resonator and larger muffler it's the most quite 3" exhuast I've heard yet... oh yeah, and it doesn't sound like I'm blowing through a straw under WOT anymore . Link to the install here

Muffler after a fresh coat of flat black paint and install.

__________________________________________________ __________
October, had my first track day turboed... with no major problems! putting down traction or trying to accelerate out of any of the corners was a joke with the open diff and 225 width street tires. I'll be dealing with those issues come next season. The writeup can be found here, starting at post #53.

A good shot from the track day.

__________________________________________________ __________
October/November, I rounded up the last of my parts to install the new Koni setup, 8610's in custom housings with GC hardware up front and koni sports in the rear with GC's. First impressions of this setup are very positive, but proper testing won't be done till next year. For more details on this setup, click here.

Comparison of the Silkroad to the new Koni fronts...

The new ride height... for now, not so high in the front anymore

__________________________________________________ ___________
Currently, converting my hubs over from 4x114 to 5x114 and doing what it takes to stuff 17x9 +35 5zigens wrapped in 275/40/17 RA-1's under the car. The rear is not the issue, the front's will be. I will also be needing to purchase some wide fenders for the front once I get the wheels on there and see how much more fender I need. also have access to a eastwood fender roller for the rear.

New hubs...

New track wheel/tire setup.

That's all for now

Sweet! I love the exhaust. You should post some videos at your next track date. I would be happy to videotape if you need someone and its near Charlotte. I just want to see that beast RUN!

The paint did it, the pictures I've seen of this one without the painted can look way to flashy for me.

A video setup is slowly in the works... I've already convinced the wife that we should purchase one next year, I just didn't mention the part about using it in the car yet

As for me doing a track day near Charlotte... don't think that will ever happen. Trailering the car across the entire US and missing a week+ of work for a track day is crazy even in my book

The volks and Silkroad coilovers are all sold and out the door. The volks are now on a white B16 sentra... at least they stayed in the nissan family.

The new street wheels are 17x9 +27 MB Motorsports Compitition wheels. The color was supposed to be Gun Metal, but what I got didn't seem to match the pictures I've seen. Nothing a can of spray paint can't solve though .

A better picture of the wheel.

Mounted with 235/45/17 Advans that I got off an Evo8 owner last year... the tires have maybe 3K miles on them

A better picture showing how much the tires stick out. A small roll of the fenders and I should be fine up front and in the back. Inner clearance up front is pretty good to the struts, no need for spacers.

I finally got a date for the first track day of the year... March 28th. This might be the last track day at our local track due it going to the auction on April 17th . I guess the good news is that the county is looking to pick it up, which would be a good thing.

Things that I need to get done in that time are:

S15 HLSD
Subframe bushings
Z32 Rear Uprights
Koni 8611's up front (double adjustable)
Koni 8610's in the rear (moving from the front)
Add longer studs front/back
Replace broken studs from turbo/02 housing
Replace DP with one with that has a flexpipe and add tranny mount

What I've gotten done so far is used an eastwood roller to fit the 275 width RA-1's. All I need left to do is get some 5mm spacers to make sure I have enough clearance up front.
