another old school

my grandad bought this car when i was 4, and gave it to me when i turned 16. i drove it for awhile, but it had some "issues" and wasn't really safe. my parents got it painted recently, and gave it a new red leather interior, which i don't have any pics of.

the car has a 176ci inline six, and doesn't really like to get over 60.
when i get out of school, i'm going to try and stick a 5.0 in there, i read somewhere that 5.0 and the oringinal 260 are the same block, so i figure i need to source some motor mounts, and a new tranny/driveline and it should be pretty straight forward.

Wow thats awesome Jeff! *NEVER* let that thing go, it's a classic not to mention the sentimental value it has. I think a hopped up 5.0/5spd would kick ass in that car. I love the classic car with modern drivetrain/suspension thing.

Very cool. A car with some history. I would try to keep it as original as possible.

one thing i forgot to mention about this car, it has less than 80k on it, so really i would feel bad about pulling the I6. but at the same time, it really sucks. the car is good to get out and put around in (crazy leaf spring things FTW) but other than that, it's not really cool. if it had a carb'd 5.0 it would be super easy hook up, super easy to work on, super easy to mod, and super easy to maintain.

plus, with the way my folks are doing the car, meaning basically top notch treatment, i would really like to pull out the I6, paint the engine bay, build a super clean 5.0, and throw that in. there's more than enough room.
