any monkey with comon sence can hook up a gun and lay paint.........do a bunch of light coats and just wet sand every 2/3 coats and your golden.

the real skill is in the prep work. sand it down well, use too high of a grit and the new paint wont want to stick......use to low and you will see grain threw the paint 800 is normally a good grit to lay primer over. after that go from 800 to leval the coats out then lightly use 1000 to revome the grit. if you spend the time and bare threw the pain of a cramping hand you will have a body panel that is the smoothest thing you have ever seen in your entire freakin life.

good luck and just remember. T-A-K-E Y-O-U-R T-I-M-E!

exactly. paint isnt final.....you can always re-do it. the only thing you are fighting is time. if you want it done 2 weeks from now you WILL mess it up no question about it............if your just in it for learning and have no set date i am absolutly possitive it will come out great. just use google and find yourself a resto/body oriented forum and soak in everything you can find.

if you had some old body panels laying around, I would advise you to just practice painting those, youll see where your flaws are and youll learn how to correct them. Also, youll get a better feel for your spray gun. Id rather mess up a piece i could just discard than mess up the whole car.
