I am posting this for him since he is out of town this weekend. He bought this p10 very very clean tastefully modded and the motor blew at 180k miles. DOH. So out with the old and in with the new. Being his first swap and my 3rd I assumed project manager. Cory is that type of person you want to do an engine swap with as he provides great beer, runs after tools when your under the car and he can dislocate his gorilla arms so hes great for tight spots too! Heres some pics.
We fit the engine lift in the back of his NX. Corey is way gangsta, his chain is platinum , and holds 25,000,000 pounds.
So I had one drink, or was it 3???
We decided to do it on top. I told corey, "Thats what she said "
I think hes gonna put another DE in there after discussing the options so we will update in 2 weeks when the new engine arrives. He can give more details when he gets back.
Thanks for posting the pics. The engine developed a rod knock the second day after I purchased it for them.
Its awesome that the NX fit the entire engine hoist, Nathan, and I into it, is there anything you can't do with a NX?
We are throwing a JDM sr20de in the car and putting it up for sale on craigslist, autotrader, and the G20 and sr20de forums. If anyone is interested I feel this thread will show the care we put into the motor swap. The is definitely not a rushed engine swap. Once the motor was out we saw that we definitely are replacing the boots on the steering rack, a few seals, and cleaning out the engine bay. I still feel this is one of the nicest condition P10s out there. The c/v axles look good and the car already has a decent tein s-tech and KYB agx suspension set-up on it. Two sets of wheels.
I just want it out of my garage as the NX doesn't enjoy sitting outside at night.

Ha, sh*t guys, wish I was around for this. Be sure and let me know when you guys are planning to work on this again! Too bad I was out of town. Hope to see this in person soon.
Nothing like breaking in the new chains!

No problem, the JDM motor should be delivered by early next week. I have to also get a few other replacement parts. We will be tinkering around and cleaning up the engine compartment this weekend. Next weekend is the install.
We have a strict beer drinking schedule to keep us on track...
Damn it! These JDM sr20de motors are expensive @ $600+ to my door! I am about ready to throw a DET in it and keep it for myself and just wait a few months to save the money for this swap.
Nice job with the swap!
What part of NC are you guys from, Charlotte??
Let me know I'm currently in Afghanistan but be back in January to Fayetteville, looking forward to do a VE+T, + 5SPD swap on a G, already have the SR20VE and a GTiR Kit waiting in my garage. maybe I could get some help from you guys. Let me know.

Yeah, we are both in Charlotte or just south of Charlotte, in Fort Mill, SC. We would be happy to help you with your swap, but first we need the G20 out of the garage. The G20 should be swapped with a new engine and sold by January. However, you will be just in time for our next project which will be a VE swap into a B14 used for auto-x (hint to nathan), it also needs a new tranny. We have a list of projects to do to both our B14 and our NX2000. Basically I bought the hoist with the intent to rent it out to people who need one but we could also do a swap at our house...no warranties on our advice or assistance though....lol.

sounds good to me. I drove to carrowinds once and I took me a good 3hr driving over there mapquest route sucks lol. but yeah I got a boosted 98 Se-R but the emmisions is due so I bougth this 95 G20 with a blown tranny to fix it and not worry about emmisions or check engine ligths. I look forward to meet with you guys.
by the way If looking to buy another SR20DE I got one from a forum member from wilmington he said it came from a 95 G20 with 90,XXX miles 5SPD tranny too non LSD. Let me know.
Nice...we are looking at a motor this week. If it doesn't work out, you will be hearing from us. Most of the car work happens at my place which is in Fort Mill, its just southeast of Carrowinds about 4 miles south of Carolina Place Mall, just across the border. If you take the moonshine run roads, it will take a few minutes off your drive...lol.

So word on the street is corey is keeping this thing. Maybe a little DET action nothing solid yet just some chatting and some plans hint hint. It got a new set of leather seats today. I wonder if that helped change his mind. Might be an interesting project in the next few months....
AYeah, I am still trying to convice my wife about the DET. I am pretty sure that if we can keep the costs down that we should be able to do it without much backlash from the beast (my wife).
Looks like mid December the Turbo motor should arrive, I am thinking a Bluebird as it seems to be the least expensive route. Your friends can come over and hang out as long as we can still get some work done. Additional parts I need are a new clutch (JWT or ACT), new tie rod ends, IC piping, and cleaning up the engine bay. It looks like I am doing a Calum ECU reprogram and I plan to keep it around stock boost because it will be for my daily drives to work and it needs to be dead reliable. I also need to get a new MAF. I still haven't decided on which MAF to get and how to set up the IC piping.
Happy thanksgiving. I hate turkey.
