my s13 SR drag build

i bought this car about a year ago with the full intent of doing an sr20swap and dragracing it
this is what it looked like when i got it

when i got the car it had like truck liner on the dash i found a dash at u-pull-it for $50 here's the pics
old dash
new dash
i took it to the drag strip and i ran a whooping 17.2 in the 1/4mi
i removed 48lbs out of the car
i took out all of the a/c stuff it didn't work anyways
i weighed the box after i was done
i removed the egr and the recirculate from the exhaust and installed a new o2
then i needed to find out why it stuttered when it was at wot it picks up OK but its still holding back
i found out the the intake gaskets were leaking and the #2 injector was going bad fixed that took it back to the track and ran a 15.5
after pulling the intake off
this is where the bomb went off lol

i installed a full 3" header-back exhaust
cat-less pipe

pipe measurements

then i got a header for the tired ka
before

header

after install

i went out and drove it and its got a lot smoother excel. and i ran 90mph in the 1/4
well the car still wasn't fast enough for me so i decided to put a nitrous kit on it at a 75 shot
pics

when i first installed it i put the wrong pills in the nozzle and made it run super rich i took it to a dyno and when they hit the nitrous the a/f went off the chart lean so i put in a smaller nitrous pill that fixed the problem but i didn't pick up any time in the 1/4
so i took it to another dyno and gave them my pills and told them to make it run.
well after i took it to the track it went
first run 14.2
run two 14.0
run three 13.7
run four 14.3 and when i hit 3rd gear the clutch never came up off the floor
so i had to replace master cyl and slave cyl
i ran the number and it showed i was spraying a 125shot and the motor was holding it
then i disconnected the speed limiter and ran it up to 124mph w/o the nitrous
i was going to go faster but i came up on traffic
on DEC 30th 2008 the KA finally fell on its face after betting on it for a long time
i tore the block down to see how it faired with all that i had put it through

and i found out that the #1 bearing was the one knocking it was the only on that was deformed and scored i couldn't get a pic or the scoring but you can see how deformed they are
bottom

top

then i made a build video
YouTube - 240build part 1
well the car has been sitting waiting for the sr for about 3months now my taxes should be in mid month
while it has been sitting I've installed a J30 VLSD and cleaned the engine bay
plans for the sr20:
well i called Andy at AutoVaughn Performance Murfreesboro, TN Welcome to the Frontpage they are a disturber for Nistune NIStune - Nissan Realtime ECU tuning
i was on the phone with him for about an hour talking about what he does and what i can do once i have it install in my car
first: when i get my motor set in ill have to send the ecu off to them to have the data board installed with an usb port for connecting to the lap top and when it is shipped back to me after 2-4 days it will come with the link cable and software with a basic tune installed on it and i can start tuning from there
the software will not only let me tune it but i can log everything IE. knock, A/F, wide-band, and all the sensors
and i get it all for right at $500 shipped
also i have to send off my gt2571 turbo to forced performance and have them do the big 28 upgrade Forced Performance Turbochargers: Nissan SR20 FP Big 28 Upgrade that will be about $800
i still need to call them and talk to them
Brian crowler 272 cams
walbro 225
adjustable fpr
550cc nismo injectors
haven't really nailed down witch intake to go with yet
exedy stage 2 clutch w/lighten flywheel
sorry for the long first post but i thought i would catch everyone up on my build
if you want to see the full build thread on my car its here:http://www.racevideoforums.com/forum...r-project.html
and yes i was very naive when i started this build

a stock sr20 clutch and plumbing shouldnt cost 3 grand dude. Hell for that price might as well do an LS1 swap.

ok to get a sr20 in good shape you need to spend between 1800-2200 for a good one so we will cut it in the middle say 2k
then a greedy intercooler is 495
http://www.240sxmotoring.com/grlsinkitfor1.html
then a stage 2 clutch is 379
http://enjukuracing.com/exedy-stage-...et-p-7096.html
a greedy bov is 249
http://enjukuracing.com/greddy-typer...l?cPath=24_160
a test pipe is 50
http://enjukuracing.com/isis-test-pi...l?cPath=24_112
a down pipe is 210
http://enjukuracing.com/apexi-spec-d...et-p-6870.html
ok so lets recap
sr20 $2000
intercooler $495
clutch $379
bov $249
testpipe $50
downpipe 210
hoses and mis. etc about $140
total: $3523 plus shipping
i priced it out before i agreed to buy it

you are paying 450 for an intercooler are you drunk... go on ebay get a cxracing one. You need to search for better prices or you can just bend over and take it up the butt

$100 for intercooler
$100 for piping both on ebay
$350 for a clutch
$120 used bov

thats just some trimming of prices and you saved some money just in two seconds

ebay parts are usualllly garbage. BUT.. i would and have used ebay intercoolers.

as for the people doubting this persons intellegence, its his money, let him spend it. at least he is smart enough to buy quality parts from the beginning and not have to replace cheap parts down the road as they break/fail
