Whats up guys, my name is Paul and haven't posted in a while. Here's the link to when i joined up last year Newbie Post
Car has officially been put in my name (since i bought it off of my cousin) but it is still non-Operational status with the DMV so i wont get screwed on registration fees, which is nice.
Just recently installed some new goodies..... Control Arms, Wheel Seals, Diff seals, and outer Tie-Rod ends.
New driver side and passenger side axles installed as well! little did i know a skunk sprayed the box when it was at the warehouse and put the box in my trunk, so my car now has a slight skunk smell
Got sick of looking at the white so i installed some red 194 bulbs
DONE!
funny working on this car is just as easy as working on my colt's. BUTTTT.......learned that on this car its easier to loosen up the sway bar brackets to remove the control arms. What isn't shown is how my cousin installed the wrong rotors up front, and i didnt notice it till i was bolting up the wheel and was looking and looking and looking and it hit me......the idiot put solid rotors on!
so...... Once again Rock Auto to the rescue!
ill snap some pic's when they get installed, after i drop the trans to replace the input shaft seal.
nice coming along where did you get your control arms from i wanna replace mine and wanna get a good price..
-Dave
Dave I got all my parts from rock auto. Their prices are awesome and I've never had the wrong part shipped. And if they are out of stock they will call you and let you know. I think I paid around 50 for each control arm and they come with bushings and balljoints preinstalled. I bought both axles for around 130 iirc with no core for they are new not remans. And clearly state whether they are for a manual or in my case an automatic.
B14 team - you can get the paint at any parts store and it is made by VHT and called wrinkle plus. Black is mainly stocked but they also make it in red. I reccommend using aircraft paint stripper first. Then hit it up with grease and wax remover. Then lay it . The directions on the can helped out a lot.
Chippey - I greatly appreciate it. Its slowly but surely getting road worthy again!
Nice project! Which Americas Tire are you at. I work at the one in Vacaville Can17. Your project is looking good. Haven't seen that kangaroo stamp before.
I work at the Victorville CAL-02 store. And thanks for the kind words, its slowly getting there. should HOPEFULLY be Smogged and registered by xmas!
While the trans was out i changed the fuel filter to a new one and noticed the line coming from the tank to the filter.....
Old front Rotors
New Front Rotors
All back together up top with transmission and axles bolted in.
Passenger side all buttoned up, with a new caliper. The piston seal was wasted and didn't want to take a risk with it so i ordered a remaned from autozone. And if you hav not used a vacula before, i highly reccommend it! man it made bleeding by yourself 10000000x easy.
On The Road! after a 2 year journey my car is smogged and registered (FINALLY!!!!)
Went throught many attempts to get it smogged (my co-worker owns a smog shop and hooked me up on the price.
Attempt 1: knock sensor went south.
Attempt 2: Fuel Pump went south.
Attempt 3: CEL (EGR) came on and my cat was bad. Pulled vacuum from the gre and did a BPT Valve test. BPT Valve was bad. Slapped a new one on and now the EGR works
Attempt 4: Passed with flying colors!
Installed my Cusco FSTB:
It was Finally Slow at work and was able to Align my car:
