Just a couple shots of my wife's 1991 white NX2000. Our county's Vo-Tech Center has taken the car in as a 'classroom car', which students use in the body shop/paint class. They've had it for one week, and so far they have attacked it and repaired all the dings:
They've even repaired the chips in the plastic trim that surrounds the headlights! We are going to paint it ALL white, like the '93s were.
There is no rust on the car at all. Just two very small areas of light surface rust from the drain holes. And that's been taken care of as well. They even found two dings that I didn't know were there.
The beauty of this is that you only have to pay for the supplies used, which should be way less than $200. It takes longer to get done (about 3 weeks), but that poses no problem to us.
Once the paint is on...then the Hyperco/AGX combo goes in. Maybe some Rotas from Jamie at Powertech Imports in the spring. Oh, and Corbeau seats. We are planning to keep this one NA, and very close to stock. It's just SO much fun to drive like that.
Question - what are they going to do about the faded trim around the windows? MY nx has that as well and I'm getting ready to send it in to be painted.... I dunno wether to paint it black or what... I can't find a dark grey paint to match it, and replacements from nissan are pricy..
Funny you should mention that black metal trim. I have a sneaky feeling that barbeque grill paint will come eerily close to duplicating the factory stuff. It is just flat enough to do it, I think.
I might try it on the ghetto blue NX this week, and see how close it matches up.
We'd gladly sell this NX back to you, Chris.

Take my advice.
Have them remove the doorhandles.
Have them take off the skirts and and paint down there.
Have them take off the trim under the window and paint all the way up there.
Take out the foglights.
Take off the T Tops and have them paint into the T Top well.
Let them learn the right way. Not the shortcut way. Thats how my car will go under the knife this winter!

yea for sure. paint the jams and such. nothing worse than admiring a good paint job and opening the doors to see overspray.

Good tips. Thanks. I'll bring them up when I visit the car this week. Hope they haven't begun spraying yet...I was out of town all week.
I do know the t-tops will come out. The instructor and I talked about how to handle painting that area, and I suggested just removing the tops and masking the hole, to make things easier.

When I worked in a body shop, we used "trim black" spray paint for the black trim and there were a number of different tints of gray for gray trim. Here in WI. we have Body Shop Supply and they carry everything. You should have an equivalent place that will carry the same stuff. The cans were like $5 a can.
