Here's a couple of side-by-side comparisson shots of my '92 SE-R before and after my recent paint job (Sept. 03). My only complaint about my SE-R in my twelve years of ownership has been it's factory paint. It was piss poor. In my opinion, a recall should have been issued. I know some who complained loudly and had agreeable dealerships were either given a cash payout or had there cars repainted free of charge. Paint in the jams (door, hood, and trunk) began to lift from the primer just three years into ownership. Later it spread to the hood, roof, trunk and A-pillars.
I was so tired of the lame appearence of my SE-R that I even contemplated a flat black "rattle can" paint job similar to Dave Coleman's SR20DET 240. Thankfully, my better sense kicked in and I had the car repainted.

Very nicely done. I feel the same way about my black car, but have convinced myself to stay on top of it with lotz of wax to keep it as black as possible. Maybe one day it'll see a repaint. Yours looks real good.

What's wrong with a flat black paint job, the front of my nx is that way, I think it's badass.
I didn't get a bargain, that's for sure. It cost me twice as much as it would have if I hadn't requested that they sand the (down to the metal) hood, roof, trunk, and all the areas where the primer was showing through. I had a dent on the passenger's B-pillar repaired. I also had all the jams (doors, hood, and trunk) painted. The stock antenna location was covered. As some keen eyes noticed, I also had the side mirrors painted. Not shown, but also painted were the grill and trim pieces to my Tsuru grill. The total was $1,300. Expensive, but there was no getting around the additional labor required to satisfy my requests.

Actually, there's nothing wrong with a flat black paint job. I just got tired of the flat paint in general. It's just so rewarding to have my SE-R looking almost as good as it did leaving the dealership lot.
Wow it looks like it came out looking very nice. My roof, c pillars, and trunk have major fade. I was planning on Maaco or a local tech school like Greg Perry did for his cars. It doesn't have to be completely perfect and I'm sure it will look 1000% better then it does now.

Thanks again everyone. If I've learned anything from this, it's that it is better to repaint your car before the paint wears down to the primer. I could've saved a whole lotta $ if I'd had taken care of it sooner.
