Re: One of these things is not like the others...

Thanks guys.

Brian - not running, probably not for several weeks. It's just bolted in. I'm dead tired; it should have only taken a couple hours but took most of the day. We had problems getting things lined up, then getting the motor mounts slotted in, then getting the tranny lined up; it all ended up being caused by the #(*&%(@#&@ aftermarket turbo elbow I put on. It interferes with the steering column and throws everything out of whack; I pulled it off (45 minutes by itself) and I'm just gonna go with the stock one. My ultimate, years-down-the-road power goals can be made with the stocker.

Got the motor from www.raceup.com, $1500 shipped (roughly) for the motor and tranny. I basically sourced everything else separately. I'll withhold my total figure for now, partly because I can't believe I've spent that much in the last few months

Actually, I'm sore as all get out. Only two people on a motor swap isn't really enough.

But you're right, it seems at home in its new abode

Re: One of these things is not like the others...

Here's the budget, just for giggles:

Motor/tranny/ECU/harness: $1900
Harness service: $125
Topspeed Downpipe: $125
Koyo Radiator: $330
Heavy Throttle install kit (belts/hoses): $99
Spec Clutch: $270
DOHC powersteering lines and reservoir: $75 (used)
Exhaust: $479 (used)
3" Catco cat w/flanges: $90 (used)
Walbro fuel pump: $90
Greddy intercooler: $700
Enjuku Racing hotpipe with Greddy Type S BOV: $300

For a grand total slightly north of $4500. Oh, my aching wallet.

All of these prices include shipping (I did a lot of ebaying and comparison shopping). I didn't include miscellaneous crap like coolant, oil, a longer throttle cable, etc, and that all probably totalled $250 or so.

Thanks for the compliments guys, it's nice to get my 15 minutes every once in a while

We are in the process of doing mine, do you have to have the longer throttle cable to make it work??

Re: One of these things is not like the others...

My car was a single-cam car to start, and the throttle cable has to be stretched across the valve cover to work. I was told that the DOHC cable can follow the correct routing, so I installed one, but I haven't lined it up yet to see what happens.
