1/8 Mile Today

I went to the 1/8 mile track today. First, the good news. I set a new personal best on this track. 9.82 @ 72.7 mph. Even better, I was able to stay fairly consistent, w/ 6 passes in the 9.8x's. I let my girlfriend (who's never drag raced before) run my car in the Ladies class. She took 1st! Which brings us to the bad news. I wasn't able to run brackets in my class, because my clutch went. I'm going to get a new clutch cable and try that, but I think it's gone. 2 1/2 years abuse on a Centerforce D/F. I'm not too surprised, though. Altogether, my car made 17 passes today. Most w/in 5 minutes of each other. And I'm the king of abusive launches. Or, at least I was today. One small dry hop at 26 psi in the Azenis, drop clutch at 5500rpm. It got me my best times, and stayed consistent, but probably not very good for the car. Oh well, it was fun. And it will last long enough to get me to work until I can get another. Any recomendations on the cheapest place to get a clutch? Later,
Jason

sucks

that sucks about your clutch. Those things are a bitch to change from what i understand. at least you got a bunch of runs in before it went though. those are great 60' times.

Update

OK. After letting the car cool for a while, and playing w/ the cluth cable, I've got enough clutch to last until I can get everything to replace it. Since I can't stand to have something go out and not use it as an excuse to go bigger and better, I'm looking at several options right now. Once I make a decision, I'll give another update.

I am also getting ready to get a clutch. I believe for reliability and performance the JWT/2001 combo is right up my alley.

9.8, what is your mods?

My mods are: PR CAI, HS Gen 3, HKS Dragger catback, highport cam, GC/AGX combo, SMC shifter, Centerforce D/F (RIP), ES motor mounts, Falken Azenis. In other words, not enough! Hoping to get pulleys soon. The header's cracked, the exhaust is busted up; so I'll probably replace both of those next. Not sure after that. By the way, does anybody know how to correct times for altitude? I think that's why my 1/8 mile times are better at VMP.
