Attn: Charlotte area peeps

It is looking more and more likely that I'll be taking that job with Carbotech in Shelby. I'll probably be moving there in a month or so. We'll have to get together for some SE-R stories (lies?) in a month or two.

I'm not real close now, and I'll be another 3 hrs away when I move.

So, not very close.

<Seeing as how I moderate this forum, I thought it would be appropo to reply to Matt's post>

Matt, congrats on the <upcoming> new job! Keep us posted!

I also hereby volunteer my B13 for any brake pad-specific tests you wish to do at CarboTech.

Charlotte is just 5 short hours away for me...

Congrats on the Job. I couldn't think of a better match for a job. BTW. I have Wilwood Dynolite's in the front and Maxima Calipers in the rear. Just in case...

Go west on hwy 74 ~30-40 minutes and you're there.

Thanks guys. I'm not psyched about moving from the technical hotbed of RTP to...Shelby, population: you. But a job in this economy is hard to find. So I'll take what I can.

Those of you that have used Carbotech pads before have no doubt been a little turned off by the glue and rivets used to hold the material to the backing plate. Believe it or not, that's a pretty good and inexpensive way to do it, especially a small volume company like Carbotech. My first project will be their integral moulding program, so the days of glued and riveted pads are numbered.

Matt, who is sleeping better these days....

Congrats on the job Matt!

Shelby: Well being on that side of NC you can drive to Atlanta Ga. reasonably quick and get to Tenn. easily.

The good thing is I'll still be a reasonable distance from VIR, and much closer to Road Atlanta. I'll be able to stay at the house for events at Charlotte Motor Speedway (yes, they have an infield road course there, didn't know that did ya?).

In fact I'll be a little closer to Roebling Road, closer to CMP, and probably no farther away from Summit Point. So, it's not all bad. Moving sucks though

I think despite the 20% pay cut over my last job in RTP, I should still be able to live a comparable life (buy a 3 bdrm house, weekends at the track, etc.)
