I've got most sensors marked, and most connectors marked... Just have to drain the block on coolant (I might not) and pull everything off and try not to break anything. Then I'm ready to go for Saturday...
Have fun with those ^^^ , hope you have atleast a vise. I did my motor swap out the top you should be in good shape wish you were closer i would come down to help, GL on the sway. P.S. Remember where you fuel lines came from.
Unfortunately I have nothing... I will try to get the ones I can out with my jack and my friends car, the other ones Im just gonna have to get a ride to some shop and hopefully they can do it. It's up in the air.
I just can't believe my engine had so much rock back and forth, I thought it was an SR20 thing.. he, Turns out the front mount was faulked...
Right now, I'm on schedule (Pg.1).. I have as many electrical connectors as I could see from top and bottom marked, some hoses marked... and all of the electrical connectors I could pull, pulled.
I decided to take my headlights and corners out to take a break... I did bust two of my headlight bolts because they were rusted to crap.
I just called Jay and he is bringing the hoist tomorrow morning... So I'm happy because I am doing things right so far... Nothing major has gone wrong :knocks on wood: ...
Anybody interested in helping?
Most of the people in my major are on spring break because their rich, I remain because I'm poor as hell.. My friend Chucky went to Cleveland to transfer engines in his VR-4's, and I can't get a hold of my friend Phil for tomorrow...
I mainly need help with the big safety stuff, like aligning the engine when taking it out... and the same going back in... all the bitch work like transfering stuff over I'll take care of... I just don't want to die! Only like an hour of anyone's time. Back to work!!!
Been outside since 8:am and just came in... It's 7:45pm
Marked all connectors and hoses, pulled most connectors, pulled hood, put stereo in the garage , removed exhaust manifold (no broken bolts), Removed top part of intake manifold, pulled most hoses I could see, took headlights out (busted bolts) - couldn't get one out so had to dremmel it, took corners out, and basically just kept double checking... A lot of dancing was spent dancing so I didn't lose my mind.
I will add pics as soon as they upload here in 15 minutes or so.. Peace

What does this go to??? It was unconnected before I started? Ideas?
Damn... More things then I originally thought
After an hour messing with the inner headlight bolts.. they were turning but not coming out... So I screamed profanity at them and started cutting... I clearly don't care anymore...
Started to hear sh*t (I have racoons) so I brought my piece of Ish stereo from upstairs to relieve my classical and hip hop music deprevation...
Took the hood off by myself...
Decided to take the intake manifold (top part) off
Now its on the flo'
Might as well take the Exhaust Mani off as well
Only thing I broke so far is this stupid connector to back of the Intake Mani, I didn't see the stupid freeking clip on there...
And here's where I left everything after about 8 hours of true sh*t... Now, to wait until tomorrow so that I (or we) can start pulling this thing. I don't really think many people are available to help ...
Oh well Gotta do what You Gotta Do... Let's Go...
Peace,

My friend that helped me with the axles on my old car isn't available... I was going to ask him to help with that but I couldn't get a hold of him.
Thats something I have to attempt this morning... I don't have a crowbar or anything... I gotta find out how I'm going to do this without it. I think that I can removed the axle bolts but I will need some help trying figure this out....
Everyone, Let me know if you aren't busy and would like to help any of these days from March 18th to the 27th...
We want YOU, Cincinnati!!!!
Thanks....
Ameen

Reason: Addition of Information
You should leave the intake and exhaust manis on. They are a great hoisting location I always use. You will need a press to press in prothanes. The tube you are wondering about is the trans breather hose. Just leave it hanging, but not upside down. To take the axles out only take off the tie rod end nut and the strut bolts. You can and are better off leaving the ball joints alone. Use a pry bar from above to pop out the nightmare driver's axle. The other axle is just 3 10 or 12mm bolts on the bearing carrier and it slides out. You will probably need an impact gun to break the axle nuts loose too. You might as well pull the rad as it is only 2 10mm bolt/nuts and it slides up and out. I always take these engine out from the top leaving the engine harness on it. I wish I wasn't so far away, I'd have it out today.

To get the axles easily, (DS) undo the 2 17mm bolts on the strut and hub. Undo the 32mm nut also. Then turn the steering wheel 75% of the way to the left. You can now push the end of the axle out of the hub. same for the pass side except the 3 bolts on the carrier, an you turn the wheel right then. Wish I could help but my girl is going to have a baby.

Man, Jay came by and made my life 100 times more easy... He honestly saved my ass today guys. First of all he came and brought his engine hoist, hydraulic jack, and another jack. I thought he was just going to leave after that.
He actually stayed and I have to say without him I would have been outside in my garage until 11pm. Details & Pics later, but Much Thanks Jay...
np, anytime to help another sr20 buddy hopefully you get everything swapped over to the new engine and drop that sucker in there. i'll let you know the next weekend i can come over again.

This is what I started out with today... most sensors marked, and the day started for me at about 8:00am with a little reading of the Hayne's and waking up...There were a few sensors and hoses that weren't marked, so I had to work on that a little this morning...
First thing I did was crank the engine to TDC...
And then I removed the distributor... THis is a pic before I removed it
Then I started on the Axle/Strut Bolts... Removed the F****d Klotter Pin...
... And then CRACK!!! Sheared my damn 1/2"-3/8" Converter ...
Literally, Right after that, Doo doo do dooooooo... SuperJay to the rescue
We realized that my poor behind still needed a couple of things before we could get started. We went to Auto Zone to get a breaker bar, some PB blaster, and a 32mm axle socket...
FIrst things first... the car was too close to the wall for the hoist to be used... So Jay decided we should move it outside. We pushed it outside... It was a good decision... It was warmer then I could have imagined! I was working in a garage that was probably like 10-15 degrees cooler for days!... We took the wheels back off and...
Next thing you know... he's getting started on the axle... The damn bolts were super tight on there so it didn't budge. The strut bolts and tie rod bolts were removed instead...
We took a few cracks at the axles themselves and they didnt budge... well mainly because my dumb ass forgot to buy a crowbar, but eventually the thing came loose after he was prying and I was pulling a bit. The passenger side was out while I was pulling the last few coolant hoses... He's ridiculous man
I was unsure what to do about the AC compressor and the power steering pump... After fooling around with the rear bracket (for some reason the 98 lowport has a bracket, not sure why) Jay figured that we should detach them and leave them hanging in the vehicle so 1) the AC wouldn't need to be recharged, and 2) so power steering fluid wouldn't be spilled everywhere...
Next thing you know, its time for the hoist to take action!
Here are the aftermath pics... Nothing major was damaged and it was quite successful...
AC hose got a little bent, I didn't see it as we were pulling it up... Jay caught it before there was any severe damage... Hopefully its all good.
Let's go Mudding!!!
THANKS JAY!!! Most of Day #1's Work Complete... I'm gonna go back out at 8pm tonight to start on the swapping of accesories, brackets, and working on taking off the tranny bolts!
Update: I took a hit today, I forgot that I had take home exam for my language class... It's due at midnight tonight. I started it and am halfway done, I'm probably set back to starting at about 3pm today if I start at all ...
