Cleaning Tranny, after one can of cleaner... more to come
Clean Flywheel
I have to reuse my coolant pipes because they are different from the JDM ones... They actually hook up to the manifold a little differently. The JDM ones are SOOO much cleaner, but if I want to use the JDM ones I would have had to do some fab. I would rather not do that. If I cut the pipes I couldn't give sell the JDM intake setup
So I took them off and decided to clean them, as they were rusty closer to the coolant bleeder. I am going to transfer this one over to the JDM engine.
Sanded the Letters off w/ a dremel and a wire brush.. then ceramic clearcoated the VC... Looks better... more pics later

Homemad EGR tube "heat shield"... A little foil underneath and two layers of paper towel roll... Hopefully it will keep the coolant hoses from getting too hot... and I ***'t ahead a sprayed part of the Coolant hoses, because I felt like it... it had rust residue on it from something above it
Flame on...
The old "heat shield" for it was nasty and corroded... And it only was around the REAR of the pipe... So here's my ghetto alternative: little bit of foil and paper towel roll above that... and another roll of foil, and another paper towel roll, then clipped this way it protects the coolant pipes a bit more...
Just the visible part was thermo coated (this pic was taken before it was enameled, and right before I baked it in the oven)

I had to... the stupid manifolds wre set up different... the coolant lines had outlets at different locations and the JDM RR has a hard line all the way from the bleeder to the intake, the USDM uses rubber most of the way... I could have cut it but I wouldn't be able to sell the sh*t.
Sooo, since I have to swap the intake manis... I had to swap EVERYTHING...
I sat there looking at it for like half an hour like ... so I just did it... I finished all i could today and am posting pics here in a little bit, stay tuned...
Ameen

Put on the Alternator today... Where does this thing go?!?!? I'm an idiot...
Today started cleaning the USDM Throttle Body and Intake Manifold
Before Throttle Body
Before Top IM
Before Bottom IM
After Throttle Body
I forgot to get an after on the Intake Mani, but you get the idea ... It took about an hour to clean the top part and bottom to my liking.. I also got rid of some rust and simple greened the outside carefully... you don't want any liquid on the electric connectors.
Moved "the cousin's" around so I could start putting the stuff on in the light...
For reference, the RR valve cover can't be used with the USDM 98 Intake Manifold because it hits... It may be able to work if you use thermoblock spacers.
More to come...

Before puttin the flywheel on, I aligned the dot on the crankshaft seal thingy.. ha ha.. with the mark on the back side of the flywheel.. I hope this explains it. I don't know if this is needed, but I did it for piece of mind.
I slowly threaded 4 of the bolts to actually get the flywheel seated... then I removed them to put some threadlock on them. I used a screwdriver and wedged it in between the teeth on the flywheel in order to get the bolts in without it spinning...
I rethreaded w/ threadlock but not tight... and then marked these bolts like so... again for piece of mind and so I could remember which bolts I torqued to spec... The Hayne's says from 60-69ft-lbs... I did it in three steps for each bolt in a cris cross pattern - 40-55-65 ft-lbs.
Miraculously the clutch that I got from Nathan -- THANK YOU NATHAN!!!! -- Came right after I got the flywheel on... So I cleaned it to my liking and put it on... HE EVEN GAVE ME AN ALIGNING TOOL!!!...
I then put the pressure plate over it and torqued to spec as well... making sure the clutch disc was aligned
I popped the VC on my old motor to start switching the USDM and the JDM RR... in order to fit the intake mani when I put it on tomorrow (hopefully).
This is my OLD USDM motor as of today, still looks very clean under there... I feel bad for bastardizing this thing... it is sitting facing the wall now though... I will either work on it, or part it... It's still good and needs either a rod bearing on #1, or the crank resurfaced... I have the oil pans dropped, just don't have time to check...
I'm leaning more towards parting it... I'm sure someone needs a head around here... See the 92 Intake cam?
End of Day 4,5, & 6... I did most of it today though...
Almost forgot... As i was test fitting the USDM intake mani on the JDM I dropped my throttle body... I chipped the connector clip part... Thats what I get for trying to show people sh*t... I was wondering if anyone had an extra throttle sensor

No much could get done today because I didn't have any of the parts I ordered yet...
You know what... first of all, its really sucked waiting on parts... The PhuKin' UPS man came to my house with my parts from MOSSY and didn't even look at the note that said "Tenant in Rear by Garage".... He just up and left with my Ish!!!
I come around to check because I thought I heard a truck and what do you know... He left one of those damn shipping notices on my door right by the note!!!! ARRRRG! To boot, he put that the next time that he is going to deliver it is MONDAY?!?!?!? UPS delivers stuff around here on Saturday's all the time? WTF!
Let me tell you, I was pissed as all hell... I have never been so enraged in my life. Nothing pisses me off more than not being able to complete something because of something small like parts.
I ended up calling UPS and bitching and they said I could come pick them up from the freight location... My girlfriend drove me out there and they handed me the package. Nothing gets stuff done like a disgruntled Nigerian.... I ended up borrowing the Lincoln LS and cruising the 15 miles to my friends Autozone to get more of the parts that I ordered... All these parts can be found on the first page...
Schedule Updated: 03/24/06 --> See First Page
Anyway... on to the pics... Camera Ran out of batteries so their aren't much today...
Getting off... he he.. getting off.... Sorry, getting off the water pulley is really easy... just use two ratchets with 10mm sockets to get three of the bolts off... For the last bolt you have to use some sort of creative resistance for the pulley not to spin...
This is how I got off the last bolt...
Here is the JDM Water Pump Assembly... I'm sure it is good, but I am changing it for piece of mind... You can see a little bit of surface rust because it was sitting... The reason there is a line is because half of the pulley was still suspended in coolant fluid.
Lastly, I took the time to scrape the surface with a credit card to get most of the gasket material off... I then used some alcohol to clean the surface... This is a picture after 10 minutes of scraping, making sure not to get any into the system. I continued to do it for a few minutes... Then my camera ran out of batteries
These are the parts that I got today... I still need my exhaust hangers, my exhaust gasket... which I have to run to a Nissan to get... (might not get this till next week ... and that is all I can think of right now. I'm ready to go for tomorrow

Day #8 - Held the Hell up AGAIN because of ups/fed-ex/usps
Thanks! I appreciate it...
Day Number 8 will begin later this afternoon/evening... due to the STUPID Fed-Ex Man.... I hate him so... He has my suspension I bought from here and my thermoblock spacers... which means I can't install the engine until Tuesday when he delivers it... They won't let me pick it up, They won't redeliver it today, They said they cannot contact the driver, and I have school next week... I throughly HATE FED-EX and Signature Confirmation... even though its a good idea to have, I would rather not have my stuff stolen... I just hate waiting.
Update: I did not order the gasket from Autozone, and made the mistake of not preordering a b15 gasket for Mossy yet... I will not get it until Wednesday unfortunately... but its okay, the engine can still be dropped in, I just won't have exhaust. I didn't receive my coolant drain plug or the o-ring yet either... I still plan on taking my time... Parts list can be found on the first page under Day #2
Today's tasks are: Shown on the First Page under Day #8 as well
Schedule Updated: 03/25/06

Installed New Water pump... The RR Pump = Old SR20 Pump... Same 53J Block
Removed Tranny Seal for replacement, then realized that seals ordered were the wrong one... SOooo I had to clean the seal with some brake cleaner, wipe it down with some alcohol, wipe down the hole in the tranny where it came from, and then seat the bitch... Don't forget about the little spring thingy in the back
I used a large socket and a small hammer to re-seat the seal...
New Throwout Bearing...
Old Throwout Bearing...
Carefully Removed & Cleaned Clips
Installed Clips and then...
... Installed in Tranny... wasn't as bad as I thought, I also Greased the shaft it was riding on as well as the lever arm contraption
Trying to figure out how I was going to get the tranny on was an adventure... The thing is pretty heavy and I didn't want to hurt my back, so I tried to figure out a way to get the thing on there... which failed!
I finally realized why it wasn't seating... after 10 minutes of playing with it... There was an extra pin in the tranny that came from the old block! See it here?
So I crossed my fingers and actually got it out with some vice grips...
