Good work so far, except for 1 little thing, and you'll hate me for saying this......... That flywheel looked horrible, I hope you got it turned before bolting on the clutch and tranny.

Thanks!
Unfortunately no I didn't.... It looks bad in the pic but the flywheel is smooth... No scoring but there are obviously those marks...
I am going to redo the clutch components a few months from now... Redo meaning new flywheel, new clutch disc, pressure plate... Unfortunately I didn't have the money for that at the moment... Poor desperate college student... It's evident, because the only reason that I could switch out the pressure plate and clutch disc is because Nathan on here lent me the one he wasn't using... Right now I just want to get it running... I will baby it until then if it runs... HOPEFULLY... lets keep out fingers crossed...
Baby steps first... Clean it up, get it efficiently running, Replace the small things, then all that OCD stuff later... he he ...
..NICE CLEAN JOB , you can turn a wrench im my garage any day bro.....project of the month nominee.......thats what you earn brougham....____Jason
... I think that I will apply for that next month... Many people are doing so much more than me... I'm just trying to fix my baby I filled out the stuff for the app though... Thanks Guys, the support helps more than you know!

I was bored... and was thinking of my PCV and IACV stuff... I haven't worked on anything today because I have been getting ready for school again...
As you can see above, I eliminated the catch can... I hope that this setup is alright... I ended up purchasing a breather filter today just for kicks... I put it on the new valve cover in my room. I figure I will just use the old valve cover to get the car running and make sure its good, and then add this later. If it causes bad idle or whatever, I will remove it.. but here's what I did... I may not use it though...
Here is what the motor looks like now with the catch can elimintated...
Here is the package... they LIED! The damn thing didn't fit so I had to do some handy work with the dremmel
I had to widen the hole a little bit, and here is what it looks like now...
I'm thinking I will have to block off the intake recirc tube... probably with some electrical tape and a zip tie, well see...

When your all done I have a car you can swap motors in since it looks like you do good work. Thanks in advance. By the way where do you go to school at? I went to UC for like a week.
Hey... I don't know if I do good work or not... The motor isn't back in successfully yet! I'm just a geek that likes to take crap apart and figure out how it works, this is my first swap...
Yes, I do go to UC... I'm a 5th year Civil and plan on gradiatin' by the end of this quarter...
I'm still learning from everyone and a few people on here have given me great pointers as well as lend me parts, getting my mounts pressed, and some physical work w/ getting the motor out... I can't take all the cred.
Schedule is Delayed until Thursday March 30, 2006:
-This weekend is a good weekend to work because it will be very warm!
Reasons for Delay:
-School Started Back up Today
-Girlfriend Misses me Dearly
-I'm still Waiting for some parts
-Need to purchase Distributor O-Ring and Just realized it
-Even though I want to, working on the car every single day isn't healthy...
-I need some sleep!
Schedule will be updated tomorrow (03/28/06) after some thinking

Amazingly organized work on the swap man. I wish I could be there but our lovely friends at JWT decided to push my ecu another week (marking beginning of sixth week). I did my swap in one weekend and regret that I did not spent more time for cleanup and stuff but I also had serious help. (My advice: don't forget to seal/tight clip the coolant return line behind throttle body, the most annoying thing if lose)Powder coating looks great too!
No work being done today, but I did manage to sneak outside!
VC to Block Crankcase Air/Oil Line
I found there was a small hole in the oil return line (thats what I would call it) from the block to the valve cover. I don't think I did it, seems it was there before I got it... No real damage, I plan to just take the hose upstairs and cut it.
Intake & PCV Valve Manipulation Idea
I also brought my intake upstairs to investigate for oil... Funny thing is I didn't see any oil at all. There was no oil in the intake OR on the reducer (as you can see below) Seems I was mistaken when I thought this air was coming from the VC to the intake pipe... All the oil residue that was on my TB came from EGR or the PCV valve. I don't think using the breather filter will have any advantage for me, so I am taking it off...
I wanted to use the breather filter, mainly because it looks cool, but I really don't think manipulating my PCV system is a good idea. I need more valid and credible information on that before I do it. I made a thread on the current setup I have w/o the catch can, but I don't think that I will go any further than that.
Using RR Valve Cover
The more I look at the RR valve cover, the More I want to keep it, paint it, and use it. If the thermoblok spacers make it possibly for clearcance, I plan on buying a new PCV valve for it (as I think that was why there was oil in the intake mani...) and finding a way to route the PCV piping around to the lowport location... That will be down the line though... After I renew the RR cover to my liking, I will probably sell the Renewed Valve Cover I have above...

Hey, so I guess nobody cares about the mystery box.. he he... no biggie. I wasn't supposed to do anything today but the ever so hated Fedex Guy and the also hated UPS guy came in the clutch today.
Three things came today:
Mystery box contained stuff I bought from Justin, first KYB AGX's adjustable struts - w/ Sportline's in front, and Pro-Kit's in back...
Also in the box were the Thermoblok Spacers from Outlaw Engineering including some new bolts from Justin.
I also got some other goodies today... Including my ES Shifter Bushing
And my beloved eBay Strut Bars, Front and Rear... tee hee
Brian also came by and dropped off my Prothane Motor Mounts... Pressed and Ready to go... Thanks friend... Get some sleep man!!! In order from left to right: Tranny, Passenger, Rear, and Front is on the Bottom...
Okay, now onto the work... didn't do much today... One of the people that were interested in the rims came by and looked at them... I figured it would be a good idea to see what they look like on his car. He had a 93 Prelude with a JDM H22 swap. He had some expensive looking rims on there with some 215/45/17's but I put my old rims on there and they actually looked better then his rims!!!! He said so himself! Anyway, that took a little more than an hour because we started talking about car stuff, you know how that goes.
Installing Thermoblok Spacers
Had to remove manifold studs with some vice grips (per Justin's advice) and use the longer bolts since the spacers gave an extra 1/4". This had to be done first... Be careful not to scratch the matin surface while removing these. There are for studs: two on the head to bottom plenum, and two on the bottome plenum to upper plenum meeting.
I made sure that the mating surfaces were all clean from dirt/debree/oil/etc by using a shop towel soaked with a little alchohol or brake cleaner... and wiped dry. I did that for all surfaces... I also used a gasket for each surface.
After I got the lower part of the intake manifold on... I found that the rubber housings for the fuel injectors were cleaner and a tiny bit better condition on the JDM... Here are the old ones... booooooo
Here are the clean JDM ones... I hate my dirty a$$ manifold...
I cleaned the housings and put these new ones in
I connected the coolant hoses and connectors from the top to bottom part and put it on, didn't tighten the bolts though...
I decided to put the throttle body spacer on... one of the paper gaskets were a little torn so I mended to it with a little permatex indian head... worked nicely.... I did notice that the throttle body bolts were a little too long, so I had to bust out the dremmel... I measured the distance that each bolt was too long and carefully cut 6 threads down for them to fit snug, this pic was before I started cutting the last two bolts, you can see the end of one of the first bolts above the bolt to the right.
Then I put it on... bolts seat all the way now...
That's pretty much all I could do today... Guy came through and wanted to look at rims so I stopped working...

For Sure Jay , I will be working on it Thursday, Saturday & Sunday as well... Not too much more to go!!!!... If I get the motor running I'm going to install my suspension the day after testing...
Looking good Ameen. I just ordered a Mossy Stage 3 clutch kit (JWT PP and 2000se disk), Prothane Motor Mounts, Redline MT-90, Front wheel bearings, and a cheapo Gabriel strut to replace a blown one I found (Ill get some kyb agx's soon) and the usual plug wires, dist cap, rotor, VC Gasket, and OEM Oil Filter and Mobil 1 Oil. I also picked up some degreaser for the engine bay and some PB blaster, brake cleaner for the bell housing, and some Mobil 1 grease for this and that. Also some copper rtv silicone for reseating the exhaust manifold. Phweew thats a list huh? I was hoping to have the swap done by the end of thsi weekend, but my Prothanes wont be in until Monday, and I need to be back to school (which is 1.5 hrs from my dads house, where Im doing the swap) so it will probably take another week at least.
Regardless this swap has been one of the funnest things Ive done in months. seriously! Usually Im stuck behind my computer writing code and doing Web-design all day. See some of us nerds are actually mechnically inclined. I dont really fit any kind of mold or sterotype. Im a gear headand good with my hands, yet a nerd and love computers, I love Sci-Fi and Fantasy stuff (biggest star wars nerd EVER) yet im a drummer in a hardcore band. Who would of thunk it?
Keep up the good work! -Jerry

Good stuff mang! I suggest you get a lot of the brake cleaner/throttle body cleaner or whatever... You can empty a can of that crap in like 60 seconds, seriosly. Get as many as you can you will use it more than you think.
Don't be in a hurry, thats one thing I found that made me make mistakes, whether it be breaking stuff or using the wrong bolts, or having to just do stuff over. Check check check check check...
Lastly, I understand.... I usually am not the type of person to do stuff like this . I just like to take stuff apart and put it back together, its a challenge and I find it to be really fun. It's getting to be close to heat it up time!!!! I'm getting excited, but I can work a little bit when I get back home today... I'm running out of things to do! I'm taking Friday off for my girlfriend and will work this Saturday/Sunday. Hopefully thats enough to at least get the engine in and hooked up. If its running I will take some of next week to finish the aesthetics and start driving a little bit.
