Day #13: I actually got off of my black behind to do something...

What a wonderful day today...

Check out the temperature in Cinci on the 10 day Forecast!!!!
http://www.weather.com/outlook/healt...st10DayLink_aq

NewB Mistake #5.... I made #4 earlier today, by searching for the word "guages" on the forum for 2 hours... But anyway. I was uncomfortable with the fact that I had literally no brackets holding the IM to the block/head, so I decided to "fab" one up by taking the JDM one I had and bending it a little bit. it didn't fit by a little bit so I decided to bend it a little by bolting one side in and hitting the other side with a hammer...

...well this is what happens when you don't put 5 quarters of chemistry to use...... Steel is less ductile than Aluminum ...

Well I didn't let that bother me... I decided to put the motor mounts on... On the passenger side mount the bolt was giving me hell

So i filed down the side of the mount like so to make it easier to bolt on..

Well remember that bracket thing I was uncomfortable about? Well I found a solution... I found myself about 8 lockable washers and went to town. Since the Thermoblok spacers added another 1/4" out and anotehr 1/4" up, I had to use a few washers to compensate, and there you have it.. here is the passenger side...

And here is the Driver Side... right behind the VC...

Bang Bang!

Front...

Back..

Side to Side ...

Almost Ready to Go!!!! I'm a happy Nigerian!!!!

Now all thats left is the little things before I can drop it in!!! I have to find a hose for the catch can to crankcase. That and figure out the tranny mount, I have NO CLUE how that thing goes together.. I think Jay actually took that off for me...

I also figured out a way to use my Roller Rocker Valve Cover... To get the car running this weekend I will be using the valve cover I painted upstairs. No use painting it if you can't put the bitch on!!!! If the car is running by Saturday, Then its time to put the suspension on!!!! Then after that, The Headlights I made, then after that...

Hold on I have to go wipe... I crapped myself...

Wish Me Luck SR20forum... Can't work Friday... (Check Schedule First page) Anyone want to come help on Saturday/Sunday?!?! let me know, if not... its all good... I need someone to hold the camera for the first crank up... How Tantalizing...

Getting excited... Last Call 4 Alcohol!

I will be starting the "drop in" tomorrow, or Saturday April 1st, 2006...

And no, its not an April Fool Joke.

If you would like to attend give my celly a call (on the first page)... I will be outside at 8am to start cleaning and prepping what I can. I plan to start anywhere from 10-Noon.

The aim of the game is to get the engine in and connected... That is MY goal... More may be done depending on the amount of help. I believe Jay might be coming, but that is all I have on the tally.

Hopefully I can get it started Saturday, if not Saturday, probably Sunday... And you better believe that there is going to be a video on the first start up... sos stay tuned, and wish me luck... Hopefully it's all good.

If the car gets started this weekend, after the test drive, I'm going to start installing the suspension I got from here. Tons of fun/strife to be had this weekend.

Day #15: Super Jay Back at it again...

The freekin weatherman lied! it was supposed to be in the 60's today... bs... felt like 45 and no sun to me...

The day began for me at about 9am... I had to clean out the garage and reorganize some of the parts I had laying around...

Next thing I did was swap my distributor. I checked the o-ring, cleaned it, and put it in the JDM

I ended up stopping for a while to go to walmart. I purchased some ratchet/socket extentions, some oil (10qts ), some coolant, towels, funnels, and a nintendo shirt to reward myself for not giving up

After taking a break I cleaned the HS gasket I had... This is a pic before I wire brushed the mating surface to make it all shiny copper-like

Insert After Pic Here

Long Story Short: Super-Jay came back to the rescue today! He came and helped me a ton to get the JDM motor in... including getting the tranny mounting bracket I was confused with in, and basically getting the engine flush and all mounts stable.

Here is the front...

Here is the rear...

He also put get my ES Shifter Bushing in!!! :eek2

He also help me take off the old front suspension and temporarily put on the new... Here's the pictures of the old suspension... You love to Toyo's Son

Jay had to leave cause he had to go work on his pimp game...

So I figured I would pop the VC and test fit the RR cover and the New one I had painted... Check Next Post

What ROLLER ROCKERS ARE!

Here are some pics with the new/old refurbished Valve Cover... its the original I refurbished and it looks magnificent...

My theory was correct!!! With the Thermoblock Spacers the RR Valve Cover Fits with the 98 Lowport Intake Manifold!!! So what that means is I will be selling the above Valve Cover, not sure what price yet, but look for it... There's no point in having a roller rocker if your not gonna Rock the roller rocker valve cover...

It's the Principle of the RR people... How can you have a Rock & Roller, and not Rock the VC

Before I can rock the rock & roll cover I have to:
1) paint it to match the above cover,
2) find a new hose for the PCV valve to intake mani.... I recently cleaned the valve thoroughly, so its all good.

Where my thumb is is the PCV valve on the roller cover... where my pinky is is the location of the spot where its SUPPOSED to connect on the Lowport Manifold

I also put my hood back on

I also test fit the headlights I was working on...

ROLLER ROCKER COVER CLEARS!!!!! I figured it out!!!!

Lastly... I wanted to get some insight on the oil pan... It doesn't really look dented in like most people say... I was thinking of taking it off and switching it out with my original from the other motor... as this one is untouched, then getting a wire brush and cleaning the mating surfaces... Then reapplying it...

I'm still up in the air...

What do you think?

Last thing that needs to be done is replacing the axle dust shield on the drivers side... and inserting both axles... The crossmember has to be removed again in order to clear the passenger side axle though...

... Also have to connect everything again... thats on the list for tomorrow... I'm kind of preoccupied at the moment...

End of Day #15...

mine is completely wired, all accessories installed, and nearly ready. i need to get a ps hose, and do all the vaccum hoses, as well as fab up the intake, hook the exhaust up, and install the axles and new brake pads all the way around. it will be on its own wheels tomorrow.

It wont be running, since i need a manifold bug because im not usingthe egr crap, did you get one with your header?

The header i have has bunges for EGR and an 02 sensor, I didn't get the EGR taken out because it doesn't bother me right now.. but, it's same header that nahi daji had on his 98... a little outdated gen 3, but its better than nothing... you know?

I will try and have everything connected tomorrow.. but I have a few things to do... I'm going to take my time as well... All accesories are on except the AC comp and the Steering pump.. but all i have to do is connect them, they are hanging inside, I didn't want to drain the fluid cause it was still good.... and the AC was still charged well.
