Chicago Meet: The Aftermath...

'Sup guys. Hope you all had a good meet after I left. I thought it was a success despite our lack of room and the initial lack of food. Turnout was good and the weather was FAR better than last time. Perhaps next time we won't do it on a holiday, though, which is why I think there was hardly an open spot to be found.

A few notes:

PaulP- brakes look good, & thanks for bringing the grill!

Steve- brakes WORK awesome! I have to get that setup now. Hope you enjoyed your ride in my car. Lemme know when you are doing the DET swap at Ben's.

Nismo91- You are the man, and I still have to see your turboSentra. Can't wait to see your pics posted.

akaPaul- Nice new ride! Looks great and I can't wait to see you do some stuff to it.

As for those that weren't there, hope you can make it next time. Hopefully we will see 2 turbo sentras at the next meet, and maybe the guy with the rotary 510 will show up again and give ME a ride next time. Later. It was fun!

well as i am suggesting how about on saturday july 20th for our next meet same bat time same bat location?

by that time i should have everything done and my sentra running once again.it was a very good meet esp for the lack of room.

only thing i hated was when a few of the max guys and spec v guys burned out while leaving.

that is just stupid and unwanted attention esp with a preserve full of people /kids etc. to those that did that i hope you dont come to following ones or at least understand no one thinks your car is faster cause you can do a burnout.

Ok.....so your beef is because some of the guys were having some fun as they left the park?? What's up with that?

Now I didn't get to the meet until a little after 1PM, but I was there for a little over 3 hours and I did not see one cop, not one! So your bitching a moaning because some people that it would be cool to do a single burn out before they left? Yes there was some attention, but that was by the people immediately around the burnouts, which was us. The "park full of people" was a good 100-200 yards away from any of that.

Now you may have had a problem with it personally and that's just fine. However, if you had a real problem with the people that performed these actions, why don't you post this on the other boards that they visit regularly??

Ok, I've got a couple more things to say and then I'm letting this go. I thought the event was great!!! The last one back in April was good, but the damn weather did not cooperate. This time around unfortunately parking was at a premium, but we got everyone in and I think everyone had a good time. The food and drink was plentiful as well. Good food, good company, good cars......who could ask for more?

Okay, now that I have had a chance to vent on this one. I think I may have over stepped my bounds a bit. I'm going to say this. I personally felt that the meet was a big success. I did not have a problem with the burnouts because they were few and far between, plus as you said the people were leaving, so I didn't think it was a big deal. I just felt that you posting this here was not really called for, but you are entitled to your opinion.

If what I have written pissed you off, let's take this conversation to PM's or email. I'm sure the mods won't be too happy if we get nasty about this.

yeah i agree the meet was a success except for the room. it seems every meet we have we seem to have some new people and thats cool. but i agree with cammpain, there is no need to be atracting attention to us. if you want to do burn outs head out to 31st and ashland with the corsicas and there nozle lights. as for july 20th im there.

peace

Is the 20th a Saturday? It sounds like an okay date to me. Nothing going on that I know of. Maybe we can reserve a space this time?

actually the cops did pass by if you didnt notice they didnt give us any problems this time.

but what the hell did that prve that you can burn out? why did my ":bitching and moaning" upset you so?

its my opinion and i felt it was uncalled for. like a big "hey look at me im leaving and i can slip my clutch" big fu*kin whoop dee doo!

why should i go and post on maxima.org? or in the spec v forums? i dont have a gripe with them personally cause i dont know them, i have a gripe with what they deem as being what you call "fun" or "my foot slipping of the clutch" i vented here cause i wanted to vent here? do you have a problem with that?

and if you werent doing it why do you feel like you need to post and reply to my comment? did you do it? no you didnt.

get nasty huh? seems like you have aproblem with me if you think its going to get personal.

did i not say the meet was a great turnout?

sh*t i dont care if it was the 240 guys or classic se-r guys, or the guy with the datson that did a burnout i woulda commented on them. seems like you think cause i said maxima and spec v guys you think im singling you out? maybe cause they're the ones that did it. so yeah im singleing them out.

you dont like it fine pm me ill keep it on the boards cause i dont think much people like that and like we said while getting this together we dont want attention or burnouts. you wanna do a burnout? go to route 66 or gld plain and simple. sh*t theres a bunch of auto x events coming up

As I said at the end of my post, I thought I had over stepped my bounds a bit. This is not my board, but I have gotten to know a few of you guys during the previous few meets. I'm sorry for speaking out about this particuliar issue, but something just struck me funny about the comments made.

CAMPPAIN: We've been cool ever since I first met you last year and I don't have any beef with you. I guess what struck me the most about all your comments was the point you made about not wanting any of these individuals to attend any other meets. One of the main reasons why I took offense was because my friend maxdrvr847 was one of the people that did do a burnout before he left. I felt that you were judging him far too quickly just because he decided to slip the clutch a little bit before he left. I try to remain neutral on a lot of these things, but for some reason what you said just rubbed me the wrong way. I apologize for speaking out of turn.

If I offended any one else, again I am sorry for what I said.

i think your just post whoring cause you coulda just edited your posts. :P

and greg i didnt mean it as hey those guys where ricers lets ban them i mean i did also say as long as they didnt do it. i mean look at the guy with the 240 at the last nissan meet when he burned out his clutch. i just thought it was uncalled for. my opinion thats all i may have sounded arrogant as well but i just felt it was unnecessary. plain and simple. i dont know maxdrvr847 and i didnt remeber who exactly did it what generation max etc.

maybe i too stepped over the line and sounded pompus but whoops.

and i have no problem with you greg. as its true what you said when we frirst met at the first meet of the driven even though im not a part of it i have total respect for your club/org. i talk to a bunch of the max owners as with you. so blah to everything.

One thing's for certain:

The next meet has to be in a more open less crowded area.

That's for sure.

Hell yeh! That was a lot of fun. I have no beef whatsoever! Everyone was cool and just chilling. The cops did past by twice but did not say anything just looks. One was a white unmark car and the other was your regular Downers Grove police.

I'm good for the 20th.

Ryan (RySE-R1) definitely get that ride with the 510. It was a MONSTER!!!! I can't explain it just WOW!!!

I think CAMPPAIN is right in saying that the preserves are always crowded on Sundays and holiday weekends. Since the 20th is a Saturday, we shouldn't have too much of a problem with parking, but hey I could be wrong. Oh and Steve aka nismo91, the pics look SWEET!!!

Man it was DoPe.

No doubt guys, great time.
Sorry i couldn't get there sooner (on time =P). At least the grill fired up quik.
Thanks for doin the actual cookin Greg, feel slightly guilty, kinda dropped it on ya again. Just shove a utensil back in my hands next time and i will help. I mixed up my cocktail and POOF! off to mingle.
Thanks to Steve and Paul for taking the time to snap some pics.
Wish i had whipped out my camera sooner, and tried organizing some group shots. Oh well, more time spent chatting, comparing notes, catching up w/ old friends and meeting new ones.
Yes we must do this again soon.

well it seems a meet at the dragstrip would be more than likely at route 66. gld has a event going on on the 20th

"July 20 Sat BUGFEST 2002!! The Volkswagen Festival of the year! / JR Program
Car Show, Swap Meet, Vendor's Midway, Awesome 8th Mile Racing and the famous bikini contest"

now i think a meet at the preserve would be better i will ask some datson forums to participate along with windy city z, 240 boards and altimas.net so we can have a fuill representaion of nissan past and present.

ohh and im going to start a new topic to organize the meet

ohh and double ohh no problem greg

No problem and I'll do it again next meet. At least I was able to contribute something to our meet. I mean Paul brought the equipment, Greg cook ( I had three burgers :p ), Steve (BlackB13) brought food (did not want to take any money from me), and some other guys brought more food and drinks. I have to do something or else I'll feel like a mooch.
