Geekout July 5th- blackb13's DET swap

blackb13 finally has all the parts he needs for his DET swap. He will be coming down the weekend of July 5th to do this. Ben Moses will be there for this as well. Who else?

Oh, and in case someone didn't know, his old DE is still in perfectly good shape and will be going in the Metro. I believe I have ALL THE PARTS I need to get this thing running now, except the starter ProjectSE-R promised me which I have yet to receive. Just need the custom motor mounts made and possibly the axles shortened. Everything else is ALL ME.

Hi Ben,

I'm about 70% sure I can make it, but I just don't want to say anything right now. I'm suppose to go to Toronto for that weekend but it looks like it's going to be cancelled. I'll let you know more as the day comes.

Hey. I PM'ed you before regarding this. I guess I failed to see this thread. I would love to help, but since that is the weekend after the 4th, we'll see how things go. I would like to at least help for a night. Plus, I want to see you get the Metro running!

bmoses said "As far as the weekend after, I think camping trip is on that weekend, so I don't think I can make it then." So, so far, it's just me and blackb13 and nismo91. Anyone else? Please?

Hey Ben, it's no sweat buddy. Me and you will have this thing done in one day...I hope Seriously, aside from grinding the upper oil pan and rusty bolts, I don't see a major problem with the install. Hell, we'll probably have more problems installing the damn gauges.

By the way, my ecu works fine along with the 370cc injectors. The powerband feels a lot smoother.

You know, I seemed to notice that too. When I ran my 98 with the same setup (but with 91 intake cam) it felt a lot smoother too. Weird huh? Would be interesting to dyno that setup versus stock...

When were people planning on showing up for this? Friday night? Also, my fiancee wants to know if there would be any other females there if she decided to come. We were thinking of maybe bringing our tent and pitching it in your backyard if you have room for that sort of thing. Is there a chance that we could get to putting in my ES Torque Mount inserts at some point along with Steve's motor swap? I also have an annoying rattling noise coming from my exhaust and a grinding noise coming from somewhere near the front of my car. Perhaps we could diagnose my problems if I had a few others to lend their ears and experience?

There will be PLENTY of space in the house to sleep, unless you are set on camping... ?

blackb13's swap comes VERY first. That must be 100% complete before ANYTHING else happens. If we get it done not too late on Saturday, we can look at your car, RySE-R 1.

ANYONE else? The 3-4 of us can do it, but come on, this is a DET SWAP! People are interested in this sort of thing!

The SCCA Solo II National Tour is in Grissom this weekend (Just a few miles from Ben's place). I'm up to Number 2 on the waiting list so I think I'll get in. If I don't get in I'd be up for it on Friday Night or Saturday. I've been wanting to see the whole DET swap process.

After talking it over with my fiancee, it's looking tenuous as to whether I will be coming this weekend. Basically, she thinks I've been spending more time with my car than her . o O(Sooo?...) If I can convince her to come I could accomplish both things at once, but then, she still isn't convinced that she wouldn't be bored out of her mind. Hey, Ben, what is there to do in and around Kokomo? Your wife will be there, right?

There isn't much to do here. My wife will be there I think. She just started her job at our church and I don't know if she has any commitments then or not.
